T77 or 7X optical zoom?

I am going on a surgical missions trip to the coast of Equador and want a good, compact camera to keep in a pocket. I'm looking at the T77 but also like the Olympus 1010 for the 7X optical zoom. How important is the extra zoom? Which is the better camera? Thank you

I would say the Olympus 1010 is a slightly better camera in this case. The picture quality is a bit better, though it doesn't have quite as many functions. Also, the extra optical zoom is nice, especially if you want to take a lot of outdoor photographs. Don't get me wrong, I like the T series from Sony, its just probably not the most reliable and quality camera you can get. Also, its focusing takes a bit of time, so you may miss a shot or two if you try to take fast moving targets.
