Is the screen big enough for elderly with poor vision to see pics?

Well, it's not going to get any larger. There are some add on LCD lenses you can get to magnify the image a bit, but I think it'll work just fine.

Thanks- I'll check on the LCD lenses, or mom can use her hand lens to enlarge it if necessary, too.

From my personal experience, I think that if someone has particularly bad vision, then you should get an LCD screen that is 2.5 inches or higher. The reasons are simple, you want to make sure you captured that ideal shot. Given that this Sony has a 2.7 inch LCD screen, you are in good hands. The Sony Cybershot W300 is obviously a great camera but if you want to check out elder-friendly camera that might be a bit more affordable though, I recommend that you check out an article by ElderGadget.com, The Top Five Digital Cameras for the Elderly: http://eldergadget.com/products/product_reviews/top-five-digital-cameras-for-the-elderly.
