How do you reset your camera?

I have a brand new Sony camera. I've taken some pictures with it and I have had it for about a week. One day, I turn it on and the screen is all pink. i tried cleaning the lens, it didn't work. I can view pictures and everything. And, if I take a picture, pink and purple lines appear. I think maybe resetting will help. Also, it might be in "safe mode" or something.. because in the bottom left corner it says "SAF". Any ideas? I don't want to send it in to be repaired and it's just a simple problem. Thanks for the help.

Resetting the camera is usually a simple procedure of either removing the batteries for about 10 minutes and then reinserting them, or looking under the camera's setup menu for the reset feature. Choosing it will reset the camera to it's factory defaults. Your manual should have more information. If you can't find your manual, you can go to Sony's website and download a PDF copy under "Customer Care."

I couldn't do any of this and my camara has done this like 5 times , the first four all worked by turning it on and off about three times, or takeing out the battery and leaveing it on charge for a long time till full.

But this last time nothing worked so i restarted it about three times still nothing

then i gently with my palm tapped applying slight pressure to the lense, this also about three times, it worked but the picture was blurry i then turned it on and off twice, and it was good as new.

Weird, but it works.

I dropped my digital sony camera accidentally. The screen went all fuzzy for two seconds, then shut off completely. I don't know how to reset the camera because I don't see a reset button, and it won't turn on. Is it completely broken? It looks fine, only a little scratch, but it won't turn on anymore..
