the picture on my w55 is out of focus how can i fix it

the camera will not auto focus if i zoom out then gentle pull out the lens i can get it to focus on to a subject but it wont zoom back then it turns black and wants to be shut down

Is it a new purchase? I'd return it rather than mess with it if so. Sounds like a dysfunctional camera. Also make sure your batteries are properly charged.
