Waterproof Camera Comparison Review

We've conducted in-depth hands-on tests of the Canon D10, Olympus TOUGH 8000, and Panasonic TS1. See how they stack up in a head to head comparison and decide which waterproof camera would make the best companion on your summer trip.

Canon D10

from $272.88

Easy to Use, Unbreakable (Full Review)

The Canon Powershot D10 is built to last, with a quirky, unusual design. It's a bulbous, egg-shaped camera intended to withstand drops of 4 feet and underwater adventures to depths of 33 feet. Because of it's strange appearance and bulky body, it's not the kind of camera you'd probably use too often in everyday life. It's a vacation or beach camera, only. Photo quality is good and the operation and interface is dead simple. Anyone can use this camera, from little kids to grandparents, and get a nice picture.

Panasonic TS1

from $284.95

Best All Around; More Than Just a Waterproof Camera (Full Review)

The Panasnic Lumix TS1 is by far the best all-around waterproof camera. Its durability makes it great for trips to the beach and underwater photography, while its attractive design means you can use it without looking weird. The TS1 takes excellent photographs, as well, vivid and full of life and color. The TS1 is a great marriage of form and function, and the high-definition movie mode is a nice addition, as well. The camera is shockproof from 5 feet, waterproof to 10 feet.

Olympus 8000

from $297.99

Tough, But Disappointing (Full Review)

The Olympus TOUGH 8000 seems to have put too much emphasis on durability and not enough on image quality. This camera is hard to kill: shockproof to 6.6 feet, waterproof to 33 feet, crushproof to 220 pounds, and feezeproof to 17 degrees Fahrenheit. Unfortunately, our reviewer found that the camera's image quality was "subpar," and that the image stabilization didn't accomplish much.

Fuji Z33

from $139.95

Great For Kids!

The Fuji FinePix Z33 is a nice little waterproof camera that would be a great option if you want to get your young child a camera. It's incredibly small and lightweight, a very "cute" camera. It's waterproof to about 10 feet in depth, though not shockproof, so don't go flinging this camera at the wall. The Z33 is a fun, affordable, straightforward digital camera that's durable enough to put up with the most rough and tumble kids.
