Canon has introduced a new variant on their popular 5D professional dSLR model, the Canon 5D Mk. II. The Mark II features an enormous 21.1 megapixel CMOS sensor that allows for live-view previews on the LCD screen. The other marquee feature on the Mark II is the inclusion of a high-definition movie mode, allowing photographers to become videographers and capture full HD clips in 1920 x 1080 resolution. The ability to shoot HD video with interchangeable lenses opens up a whole new world to users.

I purchased this camera in feb.2011 from singapur now I m having this problem that camera works after 2-3 times we switch on and off ,is this a manufucterer fault?

5D MkII vs. 7D? (PamMR — 10/14/2010)
I am having a tough time deciding which camera to upgrade to, either the 5D MkII or the 7D. As of now I have have Canon's T1i which I love, especially the video mode. It saves me from lugging a video camera and my camera to and from all our extracurriculars. In the near future I would like to make the leap from photography hobbiest to professional and eventually open my own studio. From a business prospective, which camera would I be able to reach greater heights with?

The 5D. It's full frame and that make a ton of difference. It'll cut your focal length some but worth it.

Well, the 5D has a full frame censor which is going to give you far better images and video. Course, it's twice as much as well.
Both are outstanding cameras. It really just depends on the money you want to spend and what you're using it for. But if it was me, I'd go with the 7D and use the balance to get faster lenses.

Get a dedicated macro. You could use a zoom but the results will vary.

5D Mk II is a interchangeable DSLR, so you can attach any type of lens that has a Canon EOS EF bayonet (mount). Anyway, EF-S lenses doesn't work on this model, because it's a full frame format sensor.

How did you determine the ranking before the camera was placed in use by user's (bhorn1 — 09/19/2008)
I am rather surprised at the ranking's of both the new G10 and 5D MK II since neither of these have been released yet and after seeing some of the camera's that you rated better I am even more surprised. I base this on having had 2 5D's and in addition the G9 which I thought was a superb point and shoot back up to my 5D and I can't wait to obtain the new G10 and new 5D MK II.

Sorry, there was a glitch in the system, for some reason the camera got rated, though its not supposed to have a rating since it was released. I also do agree with you, the G10 and 5D MK II are going to be two amazing cameras, and I'm interested how the 5D MK II will compare to some other new cameras, like the D3 from Nikon and the A900 from Sony. Anyway, we'll get that fixed, sorry for the error.

Great camera problem with flash

This camera does all you want but with 580ex II flash it does have under exposure problems. They can't seem to get it right with Manual settings

Autofocus does not work properly

I am glad I kept my 5D as the MkII has a really bad autofocus problem. See many other websites. I have make comparisons using the same lenses and the same lighting conditions and find that the MkII has a habit of hunting endlessly and occasionally settling on a soft focus which is only discovered when you look at the shots on a computer. At first I thought this was my fault but now having done tests and read other reviews I see that the problem is Canon's and not mine. The MkII nows stays at home when I am doing any serious work. Don't buy it!!!

What a camera - excellent weight, low light performance even at high ISOs, and incredible sharpness. Just wish it had better metering like the Nikon D700

I like where Canon is going, combining video with still, but it could do better. Ergonomically, shooting video is a pain with this camera. But the quality is great. The image resolution and ISO expansion is incredible. Shooting at ISO 6400 is a good as 800 in the last body. Unfortunately, the autofocus is pretty poor. I think my Mark I was a little better.

This camera is the best camera I have ever used. It has incredibly easy controls and the resolution is incomparible for the price. The 1080p video shooting makes for spectacular videos. Incredible value for the most incredible piece of lastest technology.
