Editor's Review
The EOS 7D is Canon's current semi-pro dSLR, and it's one of the most highly recommended on the market. This camera has an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor and uses dual DIGIC 4 image processors, to provide extraordinary image quality and quick rendering. The 7D also captures video in 1080p high-definition. This is a body-only listing.

Canon EOS 7D Comments & Questions (write your own!)
canonrumors.com/category/ph... tough to say...simply based on timing, I would expect to see a 7D update sometime this year, but nobody seems to have any legitimate evidence to suggest what it'll be like or when it's coming. Wish I had a better answer for you. I'll keep checking though!
thanks
I'd go with the 18-135 or the 18-200mm zoom. And a Speedlight flash with a diffuser attachment. And do some googling about wedding photography and learn the rule of thirds.
Good luck!
digitalcamera-hq.com/round_... money's not an issue, a dSLR like the 7D here can shoot just about anything amazingly well, you'll just need to spend another few hundred dollars on a telephoto lens to really get good sports shots from the stands.
Thanks!
Thank You for all your input Mr. DeRevo. I ordered a 7D kit and plan on spending next Sunday putting it through its paces in the City. My new issue is figuring out which lens is a “must have”, for my upcoming British Columbia trip. I was impressed with the EF 70-200 mm F/4L USM. It was so clear in comparison to the kit 28-135mm IS lens. But the EF 70-300 IS was equally amazing. The distance variable was striking. I plan on getting another lens and possible some filters this weekend when the camera comes in. Thank you again. You provide many curious consumers with reliable and invaluable views on an expensive but rewarding hobby. This is greatly appreciated. Please continue to direct those of us that may not be knowledgeable enough to correctly articulate our needs, but are passionate enough to pursue the quest.
But I'm shooting the 7D and love it.
the canon 550d is almost unbearably uncomfortable to hold (quite large hands)
the pentax k7 has great ergonomics
the canon 7d definitely has a lot going for it in terms of ergonomics.
Now I also encountered the Canon 50d, the 7d's predecessor, which sits very comfortably in the hand. And as far as I've been able to understand it, isn't so different from its' successor.
Now I was hoping I might find out what people think of these two cameras, compared against each other. I understand that the 7d has HD video where the 50d doesn't. And that the 7d has several mega-pixels more. considering I'm not desperate for video on a camera, what other elements set the 7d massively apart from its' predecessor?
Mechanics? Sensor? Friendlier interface?
If not interested in a video option, is it still worth choosing the 7d over the 50d?
It's a difficult choice for me to make, as in buying the 7d I'd be paying nearly double the price as the 50d, so need to know it's worth it for elements other than the video.
Cheers for the reply. :)
I have read as many posts as possible. I have a 2000 dollar budget. Would like to get the best bang for buck as everyone here. It seems the T2i fits my budget, as I want to buy as good a quality lens or lens kit as possible with my constraints. Primary goal is to attempt at home portraits of the kiddos (and have them come out better than Wally World's) and secondarily would later like to grow to sports photography as the kids advance. Have always wanted to attempt nature photos as well, but that is an aside. Could you please recommend a lens strategy with some specific lenses? Thank you very much.
Initially I thought i should purchase between the Canon EOS 450D or the Nikon D40, but he says its becoming obsolete and going out of production soon. Any ideas please?
Just buy a good underwater housing and the choice of cameras is up to you how much money you want to spend.
BTW either camera is a great one

I have found the Canon 7D to be an excellent DSLR for photographing birds in motion(flight). This is my fifth Canon DSLR and this is the best as far as I am concerned, a small problem is the the dial for mode moves too easily, it would be best in another position so it would not be moved accidentally from touching or rubbing against things.
