Editor's Review

Canon's A-series has been their budget line, yet the features on these models are more than enough for the casual shooter. They're a little boxier than the ELPHs and certainly not as stylish, yet these latest models feature 16 megapixel sensors and decent zoom ranges. The A1300, along with the A810, runs off of AA batteries and has a 28-140mm 5x zoom. It doesn't have image stabilization or a fancy new CMOS sensor, yet for $120 you can't go too wrong. The A1300 includes a viewfinder while the A810 does not.

Canon PowerShot A1300 Reviews

Canon PowerShot A1300 Reviews by Digital Camera-HQ Users

Canon digital cameras are well known for their high quality optics, reliability and simplicity of use. Canon has earned a reputation for manufacturing some of the finest digital cameras and digital SLRs that you can buy, and is one of the leading digital camera manufacturers in today's world. Those in search of high quality cameras often have at least a few cameras by Canon on their wish list. So when one looks at the PC Magazine's winners for the Reader's Choice Award for Service and Reliability, it should be no surprise that the top spot is frequently won by Canon. It also should come as no surprise that their cameras are reviewed very highly on a consistent basis.

While Canon is not traditionally a brand that's cheap, Canon digital cameras have earned the status of best buy. This means that you receive great value for the extra money. In the recent past, Canon begun producing a few models that are less expensive, without sacrificing quality. One such camera is the Canon PowerShot A1200. Unlike many other models at this low price point, the A1200 has a small optical viewfinder that makes is great for outdoor shooting as well as AA batteries.

The Powershot A series, the SD or ELPH series compact point-and-shoots, and the Rebel consumer dSLRs like the T4i are other Canon digital cameras that have highly praised across the board. Solid design, ease of use, and high picture quality are things you can count on when you own a Canon camera. The Canon enthusiast compacts found in the S and G series cameras are among the finest Canon digital cameras you can find. These models have overwhelmed the advanced digital camera market for quite some time, being great for both amateurs and professionals requiring something pocketable. For example, the Canon PowerShot G15 boasts an LCD screen that swivels, and a 12 megapixel sensor. It is also perfect for low light photography due to its very fast lens.

GPS and WiFi are features that Canon has been adding to its mid and high-end models recently to keep their cameras specifications right on the cutting edge. These better specifications differentiate the upper models from lower-end cameras, but mean that they also have a higher price tag. When buying a Canon digital camera, experts recommend that you thoroughly read Canon digital camera reviews and ratings and consult other users in order to pick the right model.
