Editor's Review

With the processor and sensor as the G16, the PowerShot S120 is a slimmer version of Canon's popular advanced compact. While the S120 slims down by eliminating the G16's optical viewfinder, it includes a touchscreen, which allows for adjusting the autofocus while recording video. The new control wheel around the lens makes adjustments simpler and faster. The bright f1.8 lens is a slight improvement over the older S110 and is similar to the one in the G16, except has a larger maximum f-stop. The lens/sensor/processor combo has worked well for the G16 and should produce similar results; the main differences are the viewfinder, a lower maximum shutter speed and a wider maximum aperture.

Canon PowerShot S120 Reviews

Canon PowerShot S120 Reviews by Digital Camera-HQ Users

Canon digital cameras are well known for having high quality optics, as well as being dependable and simple to use. Canon has become widely recognized for manufacturing some of the finest digital cameras and digital SLRs that you can buy, and is one of the leading digital camera manufacturers in the world today. People in search of top quality cameras often have at least a few cameras by Canon on their wish list. So if you take a look at the winners of PC Magazine's Reader's Choice Award for Service and Reliability, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the highest spot is frequently occupied by Canon. It also should come as no surprise that their cameras are repeatedly given top marks in reviews.

Canon is not generally a cheap brand at all. In spite of this, Canon digital cameras have earned the status of best buy. This proves that the higher price tag is well earned. In the recent past, Canon begun making a number of models that are less expensive, without cutting quality. One example is the Canon PowerShot A1200. Unlike many other models you'd find at this price, the A1200 has a small optical viewfinder that makes is perfect for outdoor shooting as well as AA batteries.

The Powershot A series, the SD or ELPH series compact point-and-shoots, and the Rebel consumer dSLRs such as the T4i are other Canon digital cameras that have highly praised across the board. Durability, ease of use, and high picture quality are things you can rely on when you own a Canon camera. The Canon enthusiast compacts you will find in the S and G series cameras are among the finest Canon digital cameras you can buy. These cameras have dominated the advanced digital camera market for quite some time, being great for anyone who is in need of something pocketable, regardless of their level of experience. For instance, the Canon PowerShot G15 has an LCD screen that swivels, and a 12 megapixel sensor. It's also great for low light photography due to its very fast lens.

GPS and WiFi are features that Canon has been adding to its mid and high-end models recently to keep their cameras specifications right on the cutting edge. Although this separates them more clearly from models on the lower end of the spectrum, this also means that these cameras are more expensive. When buying a Canon digital camera, experts recommend that you thoroughly read Canon digital camera reviews and ratings and consult other users in order to pick the right model.
