With the processor and sensor as the G16, the PowerShot S120 is a slimmer version of Canon's popular advanced compact. While the S120 slims down by eliminating the G16's optical viewfinder, it includes a touchscreen, which allows for adjusting the autofocus while recording video. The new control wheel around the lens makes adjustments simpler and faster. The bright f1.8 lens is a slight improvement over the older S110 and is similar to the one in the G16, except has a larger maximum f-stop. The lens/sensor/processor combo has worked well for the G16 and should produce similar results; the main differences are the viewfinder, a lower maximum shutter speed and a wider maximum aperture.
