Reviewed positively although deemed a tad pricey for the features, the SX150 is a decent all-around travel zoom. The 14 megapixel CCD sensor and 28mm wide-angle are both a little outdated at this point, but there are probably now some good deals to be found. Replacement products have been announced in the SX240 HS and SX260 HS. Both offer a faster CMOS sensor with 1080p video output, a smaller form factor, and more comprehensive zoom range. The 260 HS also has a built-in GPS tracker.

I keep seeing deals for this camera for around $100. Do you think it would be worth the $50-$60 upgrade to the Sx160 or should I just jump on the sx150?

There isn't a whole lot of difference between the two, but the SX160 does offer a longer 16x zoom (vs. the 150's 12) and faster autofocus. See this note from the camera's announcement: "According to tests performed by Canon Inc. when compared to the PowerShot SX150 IS model, the PowerShot SX160 IS digital camera exhibits improvements in AF speed with a 22 percent reduction in AF time and a 46 percent reduction in shutter lag. "
