Hey! You should know that this product has been discontinued. Here are our current recommended cameras in the Ultra Compact Digital Cameras category.
Fuji FinePix F650
Editor's Review
Another entry into the "Giant LCD" category, the ultra compact Fuji F650 has a 3.0 inch LCD and a big 5x optical zoom so you can get up close and personal with your subjects. These features alone move the Fuji F650 to the top tier of ultra compact cameras; the only thing this model is lacking in is size. A 6 megapixel sensor will provide your big screen with crisp and detailed shots ready to be shared with your friends or printed for posterity.

Fuji FinePix F650 Comments & Questions (write your own!)
Another tip is to go to Fuji's website and look for firmware updates. Download and install them.
Outside of that, you may need to get with Fuji to talk about a repair. Ask if this was under the faulty CCD service advisory that pertains to the F700.
The problem with xD cards is they come in a few types including "standard", M, and H so there can be compatibility issues both with the camera and the computer slot. Typically, the computer compatibility can be resolved with an xD card reader which connects via USB.
Yes, you definitely want to download Picasa free from Google as recommended by James DeRuvo. It's easy to learn to use and it's free. Plus, it does lots of other good stuff too such as lighten up photos which are too dark.

thanks for your response.
Holding the button half way down holds the focus at a specific distance. If you focus the distance before the cars get there, you can push the button down the rest of the way as the cars go by. I hope this helps.

I didn't find anything at FujiFilm on how to make the 650 a webcam. Sony has a procedure for theirs ( esupport.sony.com/perl/tuto... ).
Another issue is power. If you have an AC adapter for your camera, I suppose it isn't an issue, but relying solely on battery power won't get you too much time.
Now a video camera. That makes sense as a webcam.
A FinePix A210 is also a FujiFilm camera, so its webcam procedures may also apply to the F650. An A210 can be used as a webcam relatively simply, but has to be in PC Cam USB mode, which is turned on in the camera's blue Set-up function’s USB entry. The other USB mode, DSC, is what you use to employ the camera as a storage device (for accessing its internally-stored photos and -recorded -- silent [:(] on the A210 -- AVI movies), or otherwise using its data files — e.g., for transferring data, backup, etc.
When a camera’s attached to the computer’s USB system in PC Cam-mode the first time, Windows’ USB enumerator should ask you to insert the Fujifilm-camera CD that has the required drivers for it to install, or get these from Fujifilm.com, put them on a drive, and point the dialog to their location, so they can be installed.
Once these are installed into Windows’ hardware subsystem, to capture the Webcam video from the camera, use the Windows MovieMaker (referred to as WMM hereafter) software that should’ve been installed, which you should find on your Start | Programs (click on it to start). As soon as it’s initialized, you should see its wizard in the pane at its left. The first option is 1. Capture Video. Clicking on its blue Capture from video device link will let you select the device, in the Available Devices group box in the dialog that follows. If your video device has no audio (no microphone), you MAY be able also to capture audio from a separate feed simultaneously (such as your computer’s sound card) by fiddling with the selection tools below the video ones to have it select an audio source from which to merge in sound for your video. You may have to experiment with several takes and the Input Level slider to get the volume you like.
Clicking on Next opens a new dialog in which you select the name of the movie file to which MovieMaker will save the webcam session. Give it a name (Emily's video, for example), and click Next.
Usually, just click Next in the ensuing dialog to begin recording, unless you need to change quality, etc., and know what you're doing.
The Capture Video dialog you now see will show the video feed you’re about to capture from your camera, whose flashing red LED should be telling you that it’s connected and sending. When you’re ready, click on Start Capture, and give yourself some time to settle into a natural mode to be recorded. Remember to look at the webcam’s lens, not the computer screen. and relax as much as possible. The first few seconds are usually pretty unnatural, because you’re getting used to being on camera. A way to minimize this is to use the keyboard accelerator {Alt}+C that your fingers are already poised over, since you won’t have to look at the mouse pointer to ensure it's over the button. When you’re done. Click on the Stop Capture button (or hit its accelerator {Alt}+T).
The finished clip’ll appear in the Collection pane, and you can then proceed with viewing & editing (cut | splice, etc.) what you captured. See WMM’s Help at the bottom of the wizard pane for options & procedures.
thanks
Lithium ion batteries, as required by this camera, will cost about $36.50 and the charger about $52 if you check with www.BatteryValues.com
On top of that you need to purchase separately the xD memory card and a camera case.
Prices do vary slightly depending on whether you opt for the original Fuji accesories or compatible products.
All in you would expect to pay around 30% more besides the original price of the camera.

Surprisingly, given its low price and the fact that Polaroid haven't exactly made a big splash in the digital camera business, many users seem to love this camera. However, when they say it's great, that statement is usually accompanied by a "for the price". You can see many such reviews here ( circuitcity.com/ssm/Custome... ).
Personally, I'd save up a bit more to get into the $150-200 range and go for a Fuji F650 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ) or a Panasonic LZ3 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ), as they're much more full-featured cameras at not that much higher of a price. For the extra $$$ you get optical zoom, manual control over settings like shutter speed and aperture, and all around better build quality.
That said, if you just want to point and shoot and you don't care about the extra bells & whistles, the Polaroid might meet your needs. Just remember that in digital cameras as in most things, you tend to get what you pay for.
Good luck!
The fact that neither you nor I can find any information about this camera probably means that it's not worth finding out about. When it comes to digital cameras, if you've never heard of the brand, that's probably because they're not worth hearing about. There are several low-end manufacturers producing very cheap digitals, but they're also very low quality and support for them is bound to be non-existent. You'd be much better off saving up a little more money and hitting up one of the lower-end cameras from a major brand. Say... the Panasonic LZ3 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ), the Panasonic LS2 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ), or the Fuji F650 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ). Good luck!
I looked up the JST name because I saw some in electronics stores in NYC when I was there last weekend.
Nice to see that I m not the only one having been ripped off in Broadway NYC. The worse is that I hesitated between a cheaper Sony and this *** of JST. I guess I got impressed by the slim black shape, large screen and the big letters saying 12 Megapixels. I was charged like 350 US, with memory cards. This camera takes OK pictures, BUT
1) The flash is too weak to take any pictures after 6 pm, and takes ages to charge back after each pictures
2) Has an 8X DIGITAL zoom, which is perfectly useless
3) Has softwares flaws, crashes sometimes
4) Doesn t adapt automatically to the light level, one has to do it MANUALLY, going through the menus !!!
5) My personal favourite: the colours and luminosity are different from what you see before taking the picture.
Regards
Ann Quinn
PS Would love to send you a photo of me but my JST digital camera is not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Writing to the Mayor of NYC sounds good....but if I may add the kind of experiences I have had with the likes of Bank of America (theres a $ million class action suit (for selling the personal info database of the bank customers) from California which the bank is trying to settle off-court), Hertz, Marriott, Travelocity and the numerous rip-off Internet sites that skim few $ off your account every month....then I guess writing to the President may be needed!! LOL

Who finally exchanged it for you? We have been calling and faxing and still getting the run around, I know hard to believe!
I filed a dispute with our credit card company but they gave no assurances.
It was interesting to see that they only have 1 complaint in the last 12 months to the BBB.
It is despicable that this is going on in our country...somebody know a lawyer out there???
JST, Advanced digital lens..ouch..$ 7500,00!Jennifer doran
My partner bought a laptop from the same store and has an unexplained debit for over $300 on his bank statement.
I'm not sure where we go from here but as so many of us have been ripped off ,there must be something we can do.
Thank you all!!!!
Its bad enough to be ropped but then but the credit card compnay as well as they have the merchant status to allow this to go on .. i will be taking this further and please spread teh news the more people subscribe to this thread and leave and email the better .. gong to the sotr tomrrow to sort it out ,, but dont what good its going to do ..
My tale follows the similar pattern to that of all the other threads, in that, I, for some reason purchased an inferior quality non branded product and SD cards for over 1300 dollars, this being a special offer to me because he liked me so much, incidentally he reduced the price from 2400 dollars obviously a very highly inflated price.
Having realised fairly quickly after purchasing, and then looking closer at the unit, it was clear I had been conned!.... I took advantage of going online in my hotel, and in doing so found this site, and my decision to take action immediately was based on the facts displayed in these threads.
I took the camcorder and SD cards back and requested a refund, but was told that refunds would not be given, only exchanges were possible. Bearing this in mind I went for the damage limitation option, and agreed to exchange the unit and cards for two branded items, both 2007 models. These, as with every other product in the shop were hugely overpriced and I had to negotiate carefully with them whilst liasing with a friend who had Internet access in England, this action was carried out in an attempt to recover my potential losses. Even though I paid over the top for both items, the alternative was to potentially lose everything!
I can only conclude by saying that nobody should venture anywhere near these outlets, if you do, be prepared to be lied to and cheated. Don't ask advice because they will tell you absolutely anything to get a sale, infact they will tell you the the inferior product which has a bigger profit for them, is far better than the superior product just so they can make the con even better for themselves. Better still don't even look in their windows, walk straight by..
This company and few others in New York are taking full advantage of tourists and preying on their vulnerability and should be reported, as I shall be doing in the very near future with the NYC BBB.
Hi Ann,
sorry you fell into the same pit, could you please advise, what is--NYC BBB. and I for one will follow the same route, as should all the posters in this thread.
good luck
I'm on the same situation......i buy a video camera on this shop....they tell me the price (1400,00$)and then my refuse...they ask me if it's good 900$.....

Can anyone help as to what we do re: jst712 camcorder that is not operating
I guess they saw us coming. We get no help from store in la where we purchased
So next step wrote to Fla. BBB waiting for ans. in the mean time can any one help
unfortunately you have been ripped off, just like the rest of us, if you are in the place that you bought the camera go back in and create a noise and copy these notes and take them with you I was fortunate and nagged the CC company and the refunded half of my payment = £300. try thr financvialombudsman if you are uk based tho,
I went to this store with my family to buy post cards. A clerk called Gino pick me up and started to pursue me buying a radar detector. I said no but he insisted looking at the device. He lied all the details (undetectable, battery operated etc) and began to show the price instead and reducing it. From 799 he went to 599 and quite quickly to 499. I still said no and he went away. The other clerk whispered to me that this was a very good price. Gino came back and said, ok, as you are the first customer of today, I'll give it for 399 and the rest of the goods (a very over priced 137 Lumix camera battery, a t-shirt and the 20 postcards) for free.
As being experienced traveler (+40 countries) and never cheated before in even very odd countries (like remote Russia, Kazakstan, MEXICO, Brazil etc.) and circumstances I really regret my tiredness (we just flew in the night before) and jetlag that I did not recognize the con.
After returning home I checked the price level in the internet and found out this KAT DLS315 would normally cost around 50!!! And as a climax I used the "detector" the first day at home and got caught by the police: fine for using the device 1600€! That is 2370...
I'm so pissed of to be frank. And it does not comfort me that I found numerous writings in the internet of similar happenings. (1st attempt from Google: newyork.citysearch.com/revi... )
Please shut down this shop immediately and start paying people their losses, if only you can. And arrest the personnel. I can confess.
All the prices at the shops' goods are twice to ten times more than appropriate and the clerks are lying. This is a shame for NYC. Such a shop at such a location!
Br, Andy
Ps. I wrote this to New York Post, NY DCA and others: nyc.gov/html/dca/html/home/...
Debbie and others should accept my sympathy bcos the cost of the camera is too much for someone to lose
If you take the memory card out your should be able to put into any computer sd card slot to down load and edit using existing free software . Re-charging can be done via a computer USB port .
if any one wants to cut and paste this for the NYBBB your more than welcome.
Good luck
let me know how i can contact you, you can have mine its no use to me at present the camera is shot
Where do we get information on JST?
Is there a .pdf on the use of camera, where can you get extra batteries, technical questions or troubleshooting, anyone????

Brenda is right about the Fuji F650 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ). Another close camera is the Kodak V610 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ). It packs a big zoom punch with 10x optical ability, and the screen is just under your spec at 2.8 inches. It also receives 4 out of 5 stars from 59 reviews on this site alone. It costs a bit more, but also doubles the zoom. Good luck and happy shooting.
Andrew
I have been told the F20 auto settings are good.
I've found that the auto settings between cameras in the same company are very similar. You should have no problem going up to the Fuji F650 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ).
Andrew
Can anyone guide me to the right model?
Thanks in advance.
A $150 - $160 6mp 5x camera is on the low end.
Web-picture are very small so it may work well for this. Outside the LCD may not be the best and no viewfinder is a limitation.
fuzziness to the print photo. They said he has to either use a 35mm or digital camera with "megapixel". Both of us do not know anything about cameras as far as
what to use. We can't invest a large amount of money either. Can you please provide suggestions as to what would work,
Pretty much any mainstream camera on the market today should work for this. I would go for something with about a 4x or larger optical zoom and a Macro mode (aka close-up mode)- and those are pretty standard features for digicams today. Here are a few to check out:
Canon Powershot A640 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ) would work well- I have always liked Canon's macro modes, they seem to do well with handling distortion and vignetting and the other problems that can occur with close-up shots.
Fuji Finepix F650 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... )- a little cheaper, but still a great camera- plus this one has a Super Macro mode that lets you get even closer.
Either of these or anything similar to them should work just fine. Let me know if you need further assistance/ advice!
Andrew
<a href="digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... a good list of ultracompact 6 megapixel cameras to give you a better idea of what's out there.
I'd highly recommend a picture card of at least 512mb. They only run about thirty dollars.

is justified to pay more for the Olympus mju 750 vs fuji f650.
The Fuji F650 is a nice slim camera but a 3 inch LCD always makes me uncomfortable when people say they are travelling with it. The screen on any camera is easy to break and scratch and even more so on such a thin wide screen.
I would go with the Olympus even though the price is more I feel the features will be the pay off. Also if you can wait a bit the price should go down, it is a new camera and they must stay competative.

I loved this camara and it was sitting in my office on my table in an aircraft hangar--- and --- some bastard stole it!!
- 5.0 out of 5
The Fuji F650 is an excellent camera! The 3" screen is great for older people to use and review pictures. Everyone who has seen my 8x10's comment about the great clarity and quality of the pictures when they are enlarged to that size.
- 4.0 out of 5
Huge 3" display, 5x optical zoom, excellent battery life. Only difficulty is the 1sec to 2sec lag between pressing the shutter button and it taking the picture. Don't know if you can find a better one for the money....

I loved this camera and had it for 13 months but 2 days ago as I took it out of my purse while sitting to take a pic fell on the floor and broke. Took it to the shop today but he has not called me back yet so I think RIP my sweet Fuji.

I got this for my teenage daughter last May for her 16th birthday. It takes AWESOME pictures. She took it to Alaska last summer and got some amazing photos, good enough to enlarge and frame. The only negative thing I can say about it is the lack of a viewfinder, which is only needed outdoors on sunny days. It is amazing to me how the Fuji-line is so overlooked! What is even more amazing is that people just go out and buy a camera without researching! I will NEVER own another Kodak. And that's what I see the most of when I'm out. It's the Kodak name and recently they haven't been living up to their name at all. I am looking at the Fuji S700 for myself, which is what I'm getting ready to buy. My best advice is RESEARCH before you buy ANYTHING electronic!

I have traveled the world as an "Art Photographer", having every Canon, Nikon, Commercial equip. this beats them all !
Recently attended a " hawdy-tawdy" gathering, A "high tea", for "grand-parents" day! The "Hawdy-Tawdies" came over, asking, looking, taking notes on napkins when I started using my new "snappy", within 5 minutes I could have sold 30 +, everyone taking down the brand, looking, holding, taking photos of their children...they were as amazed as I have been ! The 2 gb card ( the original) , has taken 100 + photos, plus several 30 min. to 45 min. movie's, not downloaded yet! How 'bout that ! Most incredible "professional looking great little "snappy". My shoulders thank you ! By the way, sales guy sold me a 2 GB card by Olympus, did you know the f650 camara does "panarama photos+movies, and get this ! 3-D ! (with this camera!) You heard it right ! Now where do we get the 3-D glasses ! One important feature, at a Lake outing, an evening-night cook out with gas lanterns for light...the F650 captured as seen ! lighting, perfect!, ambiance incredible!
I purchased this little "snappy" on the run, just asked clerk for "that one with the big screen", "Price he asked ?" what is your budget...how much? doesn't matter, just so it is "that one with the big screen"... "done ! " with a 2 GB card... out of the store in 15 minutes ! Studied to purchase, nope, just had a "feeling" (used Fuji film my entire Professional photographic life...knew it had to be great !... and so it was. (no "lag time"!)
X-mas?, everyryone is, yes, you're right, getting new F650's ! Everyone in the family ! Compitition ?, doesn't matter!
Probably sold 50 at the "Hawdy-Tawdy High Tea".
( try a "night shooting" short movie with holiday lights, etc. ! )
ENJOY, TAKE "PHOTOS FROM THE HEART" ! , TINA
Feel free to respond to my feelings for my new F650 "snappy".

Bought this camera in Italy when the camera I brought with me broke. Takes nice pictures but it does need a view finder for sunny days.
- 5.0 out of 5
I've only had my Fuju A65o for about 3 months now and have taken 100's of pics - love the clarity and I never noticed that it didn't have a viewfinder until reading the reviews today. I'm still learning all the functions, but so glad I changed from Cannon to Fuji. I hesitated learning a new, different digital but it's very user friendly for us "old folks".

Perfect camera. $149.00 at CostCo.com - can't beat that price. Get a 2GB XC for another $50 and you're ready to roll...
Very nice camera for the money.

I love this camera with the large screen and great MP and a Zoom that will blow you out of the water. NEVER SEEN A CAMERA WITH SUCH QUALITY. The best Camera on the market.
- 5.0 out of 5
This is our first digital camera. I am sure we made the perfect choice. Simple to use, beautiful pictures. My wife has limited English and she figured out the controls in a day. I read some bad reviews about this camera from the so called pros and I just do not see a problem with this camera. Just remember to hold the shutter button half way down, give the camera a chance to focus and shoot.I am totally satisfied with this internet purchase and was money well spent

I love this camera, nice LCD huge! Many features to give you just what you need. Size is good too. I got a great price, with the 1 GB memory I paid 215. including tax. LOVE IT

Great viewfinder, small compact with great zoom. Partner wanted camera small large zoom and 6 megapixels , this has all we need to complement slr film camera
- 5.0 out of 5
This is a superb camera for the money and people go nuts over the size of the LCD screen. The only minor complaint I have is a view finder would come in handy sometimes, but other than that, I would highly reccomend buying this camera. I have always have a good experience with fuji camera's.
- 4.0 out of 5
When I bought the camera, I was impressed by thelarge lcd monitor, which I really like plus the compact size and the optical power. This camera is a pocket rocket. Unfortunately it needs a
viewfinder. It's nigh impossible to take pictures out doors on a sunny day. The other thing that happened to me was most of the selection modes on the top ring wore off during my trip to Morocco. Otherwise I give it a good rating.
- 5.0 out of 5
I always like Fuji cameras because of its optics. The images are always sharp with lots of depth. This little camera is great for the money — 5X zoom, some controls (Aperture and Shutter priority exposures), and the huge 3" screen is a show stopper. I am surprised why this camera is not as popular as it should. Maybe it is the proprietary battery (NP-40, which you can get a third party spare for about $15), the xD card (which is not as cheap as SD cards), and lack of viewfinder (I have not use a viewfinder ever since I went digital in 1999).

I love it! I went to a Cat Empire Concert and took heaps of awsome pics with it!!! very nice!!!
