Fuji FinePix JZ500
14 megapixels; 10x optical zoom; Dual image stabilization; 2.7-inch LCD monitor; 720p HD video; Captures to SD/SDHC memory cards; Rechargeable lithium-ion battery;
The JZ500 has been replaced by the T300 budget-oriented compact zoom model. Here's what we had to say about the JZ500 when it was released in February 2010:
The JZ500 is a "fun zoom" compact camera with a comfy 10x zoom. When done right, this type of camera is very cool -- you can stick it in your pocket and still take a decent long-range picture. We dig the brushed aluminum body and the HD video. The JZ500 is a step up from the JZ300 -- the extra $50 gets you 14 megapixels instead of 12 and some face and pet recognition technologies, none of which really seems that great to us. We'd personally save the cash and get the lower-end model. Although not a stellar performer in preliminary reviews, the JZ500 is a bargain package.
