Hey! You should know that Fuji has released a newer version of this product: the Fujifilm FinePix S2800.
Fuji FinePix S2000HD
Editor's Review
The Fuji FinePix S2000HD is their first digital camera featuring the latest hot trend, high-definition video. The S2000HD can record video in 720p high-definition resolution. The S2000HD is loaded with fun toys, including a 28mm wide-angle lens.
Update: The S2000HD can supposedly use its 15x optical zoom lens when shooting in movie mode. Initial reports indicated that this would not be possible, but a later revision changed the original bullet point "Zoom function cannot be used during movie recording" to "Zoom function can be selectable optical zoom during movie recording."

Fuji FinePix S2000HD Comments & Questions (write your own!)
thanks again kurt ps ordered a tamarac bag looking good
i need that to be stamp on the pic to be viseboul on prints to
Do you get all of the cables to allow you to connect up to your HD TV?
Does it employ the HDMI connections?
What memory is packaged as standard?
What sort of batteries does the camera use and what is recommended? Are they rechargable?
* Fujifilm Finepix S2000HD Digital Camera
* Shoulder Strap
* Lens cap
* Lens cap cord
* USB cable
* A/V cable
* CD-ROM
* Basic Manual
It is HDMI capable, but you supply the cable. Memory? Supply your own. Most on board memory will only suffice for a handful of images and a few seconds of video tops.
Batteries?
4xAA type alkaline batteries (included), Ni-MH rechargeable batteries (optional) or Lithium batteries (optional)
DC Coupler CP-04 with AC power adapter AC-5VX (optional)
This camera does not have any provisions to add a filter. I was hoping there was some sort of press on hood that I could then put on a filter.
I read in a review at amazon where some mentioned the plastic ring on the lense was threaded in there.
I removed the ring and I think it could take a 48mm filter.
I will stop by a camera shop and see if one fits.
How did you manage to get the lens ring off? I have got a filter mount but first I need to remove the ring on the camera.
Still waiting on it to arrive to see if it works.
The 48 to 49mm adapter worked perfectly!
This will allow me to use the more common sized 49mm filters.
I took 2 small flat blade jewelers screwdrivers and used them to unscrew the ring.
The ring is in there fairly tight, so be careful not to slip and hit the lense with a screwdriver.
The ring is 48mm and threaded.
I went on eBay and bought a step up filter adapter ring.
Different from my above comments, I now use a 48mm to 55mm step-up ring.
49mm filters can be seen in the field of view if you are zoomed all the way back.
55mm filters do not interfere.
Once you have the step up ring, you can then go and buy whatever 55mm filters you want.
Make sure you also get a 55mm lense cover.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
You can reply here or to my e-mail ( mailto:marioalbert@live.com ).
It's kind of hard to explain, but the ideal tool would be a ring of the same diameter with two pins sticking down that fit into the slots on the ring. you turn the toll and it turn the ring. Since I don't know of a tool like that, you can mimic one using the two screw drivers and your hands. I guess you could make one using a piece of wood and drill two holes in it that match the space between the slots.
Mine was fairly tough. It seems like some may be tougher than others.
I do want to say, I figured out what that ring does yesterday. It holds in the internal lense that moves in and out.
I was having trouble focusing while zoomed in. I wondered if the filter had something to do with it and unscrewed it. The adapter ring came out with it. I happened to tilt the camera straight down and the lens fell out onto the grass.(Luckily there was grass)
I'm actually beginning to dislike this camera. Why can't the camera focus when it's zoomed in all the way?
It's wasn't full sunlight, so maybe that had something to do with it.
So, by the second part of your answer, would you actually not remove the ring?
The adapter ring replaces the ring that you take out.
When you go to change filters, always leave the adapter ring in place.
I was trying to test if the filter affected the focus and didn't know the adapter was holding the lens in place.
I had turned the camera over and tried bumping it before and lens never fell out so I thought something else held it in place.
I'm just glad I was over grass when it did fall out.
After many attempts at trying to unscrew the ring (all to no avail) i handed my camera over to my dad who tried chiseling at the ring with a screwdriver and hammer, that didn't work so he tried cutting the ring with a stanley knife, but again, no hope there.
Eventually he took it to his work and made an elongated u shaped tool out of metal. He then drilled 2 larger holes into the ring and placed the tool into those, using a screwdriver to wedge the tool and unscrew the ring! It was a lot of trouble and is kind of hard to explain, but the ring is off with no damage to the lens and only minor scrapes to the barrel. My step up ring is yet to arrive but my filter has and so it's just a matter of time until the ring arrives and i can test it! Crossing my fingers that it was all for something, and not nothing!
have you noticed any detrimental effects to the camera or its photos?
would you do it again. or would you try and find a push on rubber hood and screw a filterinto that uinstead?
dont know wether or not to do it to my brand new camera :(
cheers
adam
yes if you have a tripod , very good lighting and plenty of time

Any help appreciated - Fuji has way too many models to choose from. ;-)
However there are lots of brainy guys who build their own time lapse devices and it works.
Briefly these revolve round two methods : electronic and mechanical.
Electronically, a simple ' home made' timer is used to trigger the shutter switch through two wires soldered to the switch.
Mechanically, a plunger is clamped above the shutter button to activate the shutter at regular intervals.
You may wish to log in to <a href="hackaday.com/2008/07/09/int... this site </a> for some ideas.
Canon owners would have less problems because there are commercial timelapse software that can solve the problem professionally.
Lastly, if the problem persists, I would simply take it back and request a different one with the argument that you received a lemon. If they balk, get your credit card company involved. But ultimately, if you have to have it repaired, you have a one year warranty for this type of thing.

I have only had this camera a week and so far I love it. Takes good quality photos, has good macro capability, good size and weight, and many many functions. I did experience some blue streaks in the LCD in macro mode at very close range but did not effect or show up on the picture afterwards. I have not tried the HD movie function yet but will post new review when I do. I would recommend the Fuji S2100HD to anyone just getting into digital photography as a good starter camera.

This Digital Cam has excellent zoom functionality. Best Camera for Value for money

This Camera is very good for photographing Nature. The HD video is the coolest thing in it. and the zoom does work in hd movie mode, VGA, & SVGA.
But the bad part: I have 2200 mAh Energizer battery and it goes fast, maybe 200 photos, then you need to charge them. for personal use, I won't be able to use it as a webcam at all.

In 3.5 months I have taken over 1300 photos plus many videos. In the description there is a note saying that the zoom cannot be used in video mode(that is false) I have used mine in video mode with the zoom many times. Overall I consider this camera to be a great point and shoot digital camera. The fact that I can take HD photos and videos is a plus.

For many years in the past I was SLR lover and had many different type of this cameras. With digital age, I slowly move to this area cause I needed good camera and good video quality as well. HD option took my attention for this model and I decided to invest in this camera. This is, regarding fact that it is still "point and shoot" camera, for me "best buy" product. A lot of programs, pre programed options with night shoots, zoom shoots and all kind of very practical things for easy handling. I experiment with macro, super macro, zoom, landscape mode, sports mode, portrait mode, night mode, fireworks mode and other kind of settings for pictures and it gives me remarkably good results. I so far shoots more than 3000 all kinds of pictures and this camera never let me down.
As to the HD video - excellent quality, I test it on HD TV and it is really awesome quality films I made from our last holiday in Turkey.
What I miss in this camera is hot shoe contact for external flash unit - it would be a nice to have this feature, when you need brighter flash in the night, although you can adjust value of it's own flash in + and - option which is very smart and you can see the difference when you do this kind of settings.
After all, I am very satisfied with this camera, photos are great, pictures developing on the paper are clear, sharp and with good balanced colors.

I recently brought a Fuji S2000 HD camera and it is a bad quality camera with cheap plastic. After approximately 20 days of usage, the poorly made and cheap plastic battery cover lock has chipped and would not close properly. Fuji has refuse to honour my claim, after a one month stalling, for repair under its so call 2 year warranty and I am currently in dispute with them. I have purchased several Fuji cameras in the past and found that their product is getting cheaper in both price and quality. As they said, you pay what you get. I would not buy another Fuji product and suggest that you do the same.

First camera suffered badly from purple fringing, second camera got a good road test, out of 82 shots I was left with a bag of rubbish. Don't expect anything from this camera and you will not be dissapointed.

This is not a bad camera, if you want hd movies I suggest a video camera is is ideally suited for this use. Sometimes the daylight images seem overexposed and on occasions indoor with flash also.However for the price it does alot and seems to auto focus, image stabilize and have reasonable colour saturation, combined with a wide angle lense and 15 x zoom its not a bad package and I'm beginning to like it more as time goes by.

Im trying to like this camera, however in certain light conditions there is a blue area on the lcd screen which Im concerned about, it doesnt appear on the image, and despite updating to firmware 1.01 it still is an annoying issue with this camera, average image quality and build also, I wish Fuji would upgrade the firmware again to properly sort this issue out, as Im sure many other S2000HD owners are having this problem to.

This is a very good camera, especially in its quality HD videos though it does much better focusing when on a tripod but what camera doesn't? Also, pictures tend to be over-exposed in bright sunlight but this can be overcome by reading the manual and experimenting with the settings of the camera, of course. Hard to beat overall for what you get for a small amount of money!

We can't get the camera to print photos with a date and time stamp on the prints. If anyone out there knows how to set this camera to do that, we will be relatively satisfied with it.

Can't complain, great camera, good optical zoom and a lot of useful fitures.

I was given this camera as a present in December 08. It has never worked properly. It either over- or under-expose and all red turn out orange or pink (would you like pink chinese balloons or orange American flag??). I have compared many photos taken from this camera with similar photos taken from cameras like Panasonic, Nikon, Samsung, Canon and even my cellphone - all take much better pictures than this S2000HD. My camera was sent back to Fujifilm for repair but I couldn't see any difference when it came back.
Even though the shop where the camera was bought says there is something wrong with it Fujifilm repair department denies it. They tell me nothing is wrong, or refer to the manual, or tell me it's because the other cameras I compare photos with didn't use the flash (!!???!!).
I have been in contact with their repair department on many many occasions. I am put on hold for a long time, ignored, cut-off, given the wrong number or given the wrong information. Their Customer Care department is the same as their Repair department. It means if repair department decides your camera is OK or if they decide to ignore you then there is nothing you can do. After over 2 months of trying I give up - 300$ down the drain and never never again Fujifilm customer.

Has good quality colours and a very impressive macro and super macro zooming. In low light environment lacks in quality photo sharpness. HD movie excellent. On the whole its a good digital camera and worth the price I recommended for beginners.

I had this glorious peice of junk for 3 days. The LCD was fuzzy, and had a terrible shade of red. When reviewing the pictures taken, the camera would freeze, the only way to use the camera after that was to remove the batteries, or wait for it to auto shutdown. Maybe I got a lemon, but the picture quality couldn't touch my old Canon A560.
I took it back...my advice...spend a little more and by a SLR, it's worth it.

I think its a best buy for the price of $233 where I purchased it at Best Buy. How can you go wrong. I don't see it on the current Best Buy listing, but available other places.

This is as close as they come to an SLR camera. It has all the feature that can be desired. Picture quality is excellent. Night photos can be tricky, but if using a tipod pix should be OK. Must find the right setting for night pix and take several shots to ensure you get what you want. All in all this is a very nice camera. There are many settings within that will help define the picture quality. The battery lasts for at least 300 pix when not using video. The zoom works extremely well and provides nice close-ups. Great value!

Excellent Zoom. And the picture quality is average. Good value for moneyread more

You get it all at a great price.
Why pay more when technology changes so fast. Really every day they come out with a new camera. Is it really necessary to pay thousands? Not when it comes to the Fuji S2000HD. It takes great shots fast has tons of features. It has 720p HD which is great and the zoom works while your recording video. The video is fantastic quality. Don't delay get it today. Don't believe all the Canon hype either. They are overpriced.

Thankfully I did my homework before buying this camera. I managed to find a web site that had a video sample file which are curiously absent from almost every review on the web. Now I know why. Have you ever tried to play an mp4 file! You will need lots of coffee and a few hundred codecs and I still have not got it right!!! In the end the niche market for this camera is someone who wants a half decent camera and nice short video clips. Well they are only half way there in the latter dept. Who needs this nonsense. I didn't buy the camera.
