Lens cover not recognized (Patrick — 09/03/2011)
I could really use some help. I have the FinePix Z70 and viewing pics are fine but when i press the button to take pics i get the error " !Lens cover" (the lens cover is down) it seems that the sliding lens cover is no longer recognized. The camera was working fine yesterday. Before i go through the trouble of sending it back and being without a cam, Can anyone help?

I prefer a viewfinder too! (Helen — 12/20/2010)
I much prefer having a viewfinder too. It's not being too picky, it's just a preference. I have a Canon digital SLR and have been looking at smaller ones when I don't feel like lugging the big one around, but it's hard to find the small ones with viewfinders. I think that's a big mistake!

Well, the thing is camera companies are trying to find room for additional features and improvements. People want a larger LCD screen and as such, there's only so much room on a compact camera to accommodate it. I agree that not having a viewfinder is problematic in bright ambient light, but tradeoffs abound when you're trying to keep cameras cheap, small, and filled with features.

SELECTING PIX TO DOWNLOAD (Jane Smith — 12/19/2010)
Have a mac and have tried to download ONLY the last 5 shots. The ^%$#@! FinePixViewer I installed will ONLY download all 160 pix I have on the camera. Could not find any options in the menu. Any ideas out there? How frustrating. The Viewer is not real user-friendly.

Use different software -- Picasa is great, and it's free.

Sounds like a corrupted firmware. I'd suggest try and have it reloaded. If you can, reset the camera before it crashes. If you can't do that, contact Fuji. They may need to send you the firmware or they may need to repair it.
One other thing on the off chance ... dirty battery contacts can cause performance issues, try cleaning them with a pencil eraser.

If you spend $150 on a camera, don't moan when it's not the best camera you've ever used. As with most technology, you get what you pay for. If you want professional-quality images, you're going to have to spend a lot more money. Fact.
In the end this camera is good value for money and great for happy snaps.

Quality Control (Ranger — 09/08/2010)
This camera got bad ratings everywhere else. The Panasonic FP1 got very good ratings and the quality of the panasonic is much better. The photos of the Panasonic are much superior. Why the Fuji got a better rating here than the Panasonic is quite baffling to say the least.Makes you wonder who is doing the reviews.

Returned this camera immediately (SMFTC — 07/07/2010)
I purchased this camera to go on vacation to Alaska. I wanted a small. compact camera easy to carry. The screen on this camera has terrible visibility outdoors. There is no eye viewer - so I found myself on vacation, pointing my camera and hoping I got what I was looking for. The screen was practically invisible outdoors and with no eye viewer to back it up was useless. Also, the only way you can turn off the annoying beeping noises is to turn off the flash also. So taking pictures in poor light the camera beeps loudly.
Worst camera I ever used.

That's why I would rather recommend cameras witha viewfinder. Also, because a larger LCD screen only really serves to kill your battery faster.

Annoying noise (Shane — 07/11/2010)
Can anyone tell me if their Z70 makes an annoying whirring noise when in SR mode or when focusing please. I just bought one and thinking of returning it as doen't seem right! thanks

Annoying Noise (Kurt — 07/16/2010)
I just purchased the Z70 and noticed the same annoying whirling noise and wondered if it was just the camera that I purchased. After reading your comment, It is obvious that it is an issue with the camera. I think that I will return it and go with a more reputable brand. I did buy it because it was economical and had an HD video mode. Bummer.

In Video Mode: Horrific Clicking and whirring sounds (Diane C — 01/05/2011)
I have had horrific noises since acquiring this camera 11 months ago based on outstanding reviews for a quality budget point n' shoot camera.
Whenever I Zoom IN or OUT on video mode, a person standing 10 feet away can hear the whirring noise.
At Play-back, it's WORST. Not only is this noise amplified, but one hears an additional constant click click clicking sound in tandem with the other one.
I have had this issue since getting the camera, have contacted Fujifilm Canada but am always on hold until I give up.
I have ruined over 200 videos because of the noise which couldn't be edited out.
I had always owned Canon and Lumix products but wanted to try this Finepix Z70 EXR, especially for it's video zooming and pro focus capabilities.
I won't purchase another Fujifilm camera.

Critical? (Glenn — 07/29/2010)
You sound very hard to please. Not many modern cameras have viewers now.You can try putting your hand over the screen to shade it when brilliant sunlight...

Unsatisfactory In Every Respect (Mark — 06/21/2010)
I find little to like about this camera. The quality of the pictures tends to be poor, and the recharger is an utter joke. I called Customer Service for some registration assistance, and had to deal with the rudest woman in America. I ended up giving mine to a preteen neighbor and bought a Vivitar. Much better quality.

not worth looking at (tms — 04/19/2010)
Not a good camera at all. I exchanged it once thinking it must have been a fluke, but the second one stopped working in the same manner as the first after 3 days!! Don't waste your money on this camera!! Try the Nikon or Olympus!!!

I'd recommend Canon or Panasonic. Nikon or Olympus are rather average of late.

not impressed, don't waste your money. (Jackie — 03/30/2010)
I got the Fujifilm Finepix Z70 about a week ago for $149.99 at Target.
I loved the blue color, but other then that, the camera is just not very good quality.
I had a Sony Cybershot DSCN1 before this camera (8.1 megapixels compared to Fujifilm's 12.1) and the new camera just felt cheap in comparison. The camera packaging seemed cheap and the pictures seem below average. It had some great modes (auction mode, snow, beach, etc.) But don't waste your time. It would be a good camera for a teenager who would just toss it around in their pocket or purse, but I will probably opt for a Canon.

good enough.... with cheap price
(sensei — 08/31/2010)
not bad for this, the camera is sony t-series style, so it's very durable without pop-up lens. amazing 5x zoom lens, sharp enough pict (compare with sony's carl zeiss), easy handling with rich enough features, smart focus with tracking so don't loose focus with moving object.... very cheap price with good features... makes all bad thing will not big problem.....
