Fuji FinePix J20
Editor's Review
The verdict is in, and this camera stinks. You'd be better off with the Canon A1000. Dozens of users report that the J20 is extremely fragile and will break easily. The 10 megapixel sensor and 3x zoom are standard for the price, but what use are they if they're broken? There are plenty of cameras with better features, more durability, and a lower price. Avoid this hunk of junk.

I know all you have to do is crop em and resize em and stuff, but I shouldn't have to
it should let me choose what size the pictures come out to being.
help?
You can also read the Owner's Manual ( fujifilm.com/products/digit... ) which is much more useful than the quick start guide that comes with the camera.

Obtained mine in Oct 09. Its dead in Jan 10. I saved my receipt to get service should I need it, and low and behold, if I don't have the original warranty card that was in the box that came with the camera, they won't touch it without me paying for service.
Quality was a big upgrade to my old Kodak (which was 4 years old), and it took great pictures, with lots of options, and even impressed me with its ability to handle star photos on slow exposure (use a stand).
All of this is for naught, since it will NOT power on as of this morning. A quick trip around the 'net, and it turns out this is not that uncommon... it just up and quits, after a few months.

this is the 2nd fujifilm camera i've aquired this year. the 1st one, the finepix 150w had a bad lcd screen out-of-th-box. i'm 40 minutes away from fuji's edison nj facility. they replaced the display (wouldn't offer a new camera, so had to wait 2 weeks for the camera to be fixed. display went again after 4 months and the fuji theives wanted $68 to fix it this time.
i paid $110 + tax at best buy for the latest fujifilm j20 in july. display went bad in november. i dropped it off in edison 3 weeks ago. just got estimate bill in the mail from them for $50 + tax.
this is THE LAST FUJIFILM CAMERA I WILL EVER BUY.

The LCD screen lacks durability and Fujifilm doesn't back their product. I owned the camera for 3 weeks and a crack developed on the LCD screen causing it to black out. I sent it back to Fujifilm and they sent me a bill for $63.00 stating that a cracked LCD wasn't covered under warranty. I expressed my concern to their national mananger for camera repair and he would not standby his product and reduce the price or offer another to replace a defective LCD screen. I could understand if it would have been negligence on my part, but the camera practically sat on my countertop.

We only got 3 pictures out of this before the LCD screen broke (stored in front shirt pocket). Bought replacement screen and, guess what, the whole thing is now useless.
Anyone who says this camera is good clearly keeps it in its original box.
Best place for this camera is in the bin. £100 wasted.

I had just recently bought this at best buy a month ago...Been taking some great pix until...i dropped it once on the carpet (2ft drop) and it came up with ZOOM ERROR...the screen is blurry and wont zoom. I love the pictures that come out of this camera but it is an overall DO NOT BUY!....it looks great but trust me it won't last long.

I liked this camera it came in a colour i liked (pink) and it was very easy to use. My first couple days the camera did its job quite sucessfully, until one day i turned the camera on and the screen was pink, and grainy and blurrry? After a couple minutes it would change back to normal, but now it just stays pink and blurry and grainy all the time im very upset with this retarded camera. AND it doesnt even take pics in black and white? I hope i get a refund on this dumb thing!

Disgusting pictures from this camera when used indoor. You can get average quality pictures if used outdoor. Waste of money.

For $150 dollars this camera is great. Took it out today and was able to get some really good shots....It replaces our huge digital camera that cost a lot more and after 2 years quit working on us...Will definately not feel bad if that happens again. Also, this one is much easier to take out just cause.

I picked up a Fuji Finepix J20 while on a cruise in Alaska.
It was working fine at first, but after a few hours of
walking around with it in my front pocket, I took it
out to find that the LCD screen was ruined. By ruined I mean
the viewscreen was rendered completely white with
irregular-shaped black spots on it. Trying to take pictures
without a viewscreen is not fun. Having a brand new broken
camera in a place like Alaska is extremely frustrating.
I thought the front pocket where I kept it allowed for plenty
of space, but apparently I was completely wrong. No noticeable impact was dealt to anywhere near the front pocket in which I had it. Just moving around with it, including walking/running upstairs was enough to bend the camera to the point of breaking the viewscreen.
The damage wasn't covered under warranty, so I had to pay a little over $60 to get it fixed. On second thought perhaps I
should have just took the $120 loss on it, since I'm scared to keep it in my pocket, I don't look forward to having to carry this camera in my hand wherever I go. Using the wristband that came with it to carry it around will make it far more vulnerable to banging into things, in addition to looking less than unfashionable.
Fuji's been around a long time, so I don't know what to think of this, really. I'll definitely never buy any camera from Fuji that
has a viewscreen similar to the J20. This camera is cheap, cheap in more ways than one...If you're a somewhat active person, do not this get camera, unless you have a purse or handbag to carry it around in.

This is a cheap easy to use camera with a usable zoom facility and a decent video camera.
For a happy snapper like myself this camera give a great picture along with ease of use.
But it falls down as soon as you attempt to use it in bright day light when the view screen becomes unusuable and i dont mean mildly irrating or difficult to see. The screen is totally black, you would need to get yourself a blanket to cover your head. There is an option to make the view screen brighter but when using this on my recent holiday to Barcelona it make no difference. You may as well take a phote with your eyes closed for all the use the view screen is in such bright conditions. On my holiday I found myself looking at other people taking pictures and attempting to see how well their view screens were performing which always seemed fine and viewable.
Over all this one poor feature , in my opinion ruined an almost acceptable camera.

What a great little camera ( so l thought). I have always liked my other Fuji , but this one has terrible color resolution, and poor quality pictures. Seems a bit on the cheap side. Am boxing it up and taking it back. Looking at Kodak. That may be a mistake too !!

I purchased this camera, took it on vacation, took a couple pictures with it and put it up. 20 minutes later I take it back out to take more pictures and it won't turn on. THe battery was fully charged, and I did everything I could and it wouldn't turn on. I exchanged it at the store for another of the same one and the store said it must have just been a fluke with the battery or something. I take my daughter to watch her first 4th of July fireworks and the NEW camera does the same thing!! I ended up with 3 pictures of my daughter's first fireworks display, and Fujifilm told me I'd have to mail it in to an authorized service dealer!! I took it back to the store instead and bought a Canon, and haven't had any problems with that one. Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!

Simple to use—I bought this camera in a small Wyoming town when my Casio's lens malfunctioned. Works well, but the colors are quite faded. For this reason, I am disappointed, and will return to store.

Ease of use going through the menu and settings is simple. My 11 year old is having a great time with this camera and learning new ways of taking photos at same time. Many features for picture taking. Totally amazed at the clarity of picture. Camera was well worth the price and we compared alot of cameras before choosing
Video is limited, was a bit disappointed with sound playback, but camera features are awesome.

My large lens SLR style digital camera took great pictures but was just too big and inconvenient as a take-along "snapshot" camera. The Finepix J20 fits that job beautifully.
light and small enough to carry in my pocket, the Finepix J20 is as easy and comfortable to carry as a small cell phone and takes a far superior picture. I'm not a technical wiz by any means, but I quickly learned how to navigate the control buttons and figure out how to take pictures or movies and use the zoom feature. It has 3X optical zoom and 3X digital zoom which is plenty for almost any task as long as the lighting is good.
Taking pictures or movies is equally easy and the built-in microphone does a fantastic job of picking up ambient sounds (though wind is a minor annoyance, as it is would be with any recording device that does not have a wind screen).
I spent a day at the beach, then went home and hooked up the camera with the included USB cable and within minutes I was enjoying my pictures and movies. I was surprised and pleased with the quality of the pictures.
While far off objects (in this case, surfers) looked like small dots on the camera view screen (particularly in zoom mode), when downloaded to my computer they came out with high enough resolution to make out the action and watch them in reasonable detail. Using maximum Optical (3X) and Digital (3X) Zoom modes (6X combines) to take “test” pictures of far off bathing beauties, the Finepix J20 yielded better than expected results. Had the subject(s) been a small boat cruising offshore or perhaps a small animal at a medium distance at a large pen at the zoo, I am sure the pictures would come out quite satisfactory.
So far I am very happy with my purchase and believe I will enjoy this little camera for years to come.

Why waste your money these days? I received this camera as a gift, and i'm impressed with the sleek design, image quality and functionality. I don't understand why people give it a bad review. If your a professional photographer, no, don't buy this, but for the other 97% of us average working Americans, this is a awesome bang for your buck. Great camera!

This camera replaces a Canon Powershot 400, which started to flake out. The new Fuji is very easy to use. Recommend using the flash at nights - colors are more natural. This little camera is very affordable and lightweight and doesn't take up much space in a purse.
I'm using my IPOD case until I have a chance to order a camera case. The IPOD case fits like a glove. Maybe I won't get a camera case. Also I attached the tiny blackberry cleaning pad to the camera strap to wipe away smudge marks.
So far, I'm very please.

I don't know why other people are giving this wonderful little camera a bad review. The resolution is awesome, just take the time to go through the camera shoot modes and you will be well on your way.
By the way if you are unclear of the resolution MAKE SURE "MACRO" MODE IS OFF!!!

If it wasnt for the color resolution, I'd keep the camera. Shame

I just recently purchased this camera, it is a pretty cool camera for everyday photo taking. I won't give too bad of a review because it is in fact a decent camera for the price. I was looking for a camera that was inexpensive and took good pictures...well it takes good pictures, I am just looking for something with a little better quality and more features. I would recommend this camera for Teens, and first time users that only want to take everyday pictures. I will be returning my camera for something with more features and better quality photos.

As an auto dealer i needed something cheap and dependable to advertise my vehicles on the web so i went out and picked out this fuji fine pix 10.0 digital camera that was on sale for $110 at Circuit city wow i said to my self good buy for the money considering it was a 10.0 at the price it was selling for i was very disatisfied with the quality and the images that were coming out.Really bad resolution i recomend you NOT buy this camera it is a waste of your money and for a $100 more why not buy a Sony cyber shot..
