Editor's Review

The AX300 is being released alongside similar budget models like the AV200 and JV200. Its 14 megapixel sensor, 2.7” LCD, 720p HD video and 5x zoom all sound pretty good for the suggested $99 retail price, but don't expect great image quality.

Fujifilm FinePix AX300 Reviews

Fujifilm FinePix AX300 Reviews by Digital Camera-HQ Users

Fujifilm is at the forefront of the imaging and photographic industry and is one of the pioneers of the compact camera. Fujifilm is generally credited with launching the first true digital camera, the DS-1P, in 1988. Super CCD technology is just one of the wide variety of features that Fujifilm digital cameras now come with. These sensors first debuted in the vastly popular Fujilm FinePix F30 and provide fantastic low-light and dynamic range performance, mostly outperforming the competition.

Important Features

A lot of consumers pick Fujifilm digital cameras for their renowned natural image color, wide dynamic range, low noise and high sensitivity. One of the more popular models, the Fujifilm FinePix F800EXR, features a Super CCD sensor and provides a wide variety of features geared towards the camera enthusiast. Fujifilm obviously targets the high-end camera market with this camera boasting manual modes, RAW capture, image stabilization, WiFi connectivity, a large half-inch 16 megapixel sensor and a 20x optical zoom. In the compact zoom class, the image quality with this camera is among the finest, although the camera does have a steep learning curve.

Fujifilm has also recently joined the retro camera craze, producing more expensive models including the X100, XPro-1, X-E1 and more inexpensive XF1 that appear analog but offer compelling performance under the hood. These cameras are created for enthusiasts who want to not simplymerely take fantastic pictures, but look fantastic at the same time.

If you need a waterproof camera at an affordable price, Fujifilm's XP series is the best place to look. For a high-end waterproof camera that also boasts wireless, the XP170 is available. You can also find a great deal on the cheaper model, the XP50, as well. With a 5x optical zoom and waterproofing to 16 feet, this camera will go just about anywhere you do. While more high-end cameras from different brands outperform it in image quality, it will get whatever job done you need from it for less money.
