Editor's Review

Fujilm's Finepix XP200 is tough--waterproof to 49.2 feet, shockproof to 6.5 feet, Freeze proof to 14° & Dustproof--but image quality is rather mediocre. The XP200 is fun to use, however, and comes in a bit lower price than some competitors in the category. The camera uses a moderately fast CMOS sensor and comes equipped with wi-fi, but no GPS. The 10 fps burst mode and 300 shot battery life are perks to this model though.

Fujifilm FinePix XP200 Reviews

Fujifilm FinePix XP200 Reviews by Digital Camera-HQ Users

Being among the first creators of the compact camera, Fujifilm is one of the foremost photographic and imaging companies in the world. Fujifilm is usually given credit for launching the first authentic digital camera in 1988, the DS-1P. Super CCD technology is merely one of the vast array of features that Fujifilm digital cameras now come with. These sensors debuted first in the vastly popular Fujilm FinePix F30 and offer stunning performance in the categories of low-light and dynamic range, performing better than other cameras in most cases.

Important Features

Natural image color, low noise, wide dynamic range and high sensitivity are several of the reasons people decide on Fujifilm digital cameras. The Fujifilm FinePix F800EXR is among the models which are asked for most often and has a Super CCD sensor and offers a large selection of attributes aimed at the camera enthusiast. Boasting manual modes, RAW capture, image stabilization, WiFi connectivity, a 20x optical zoom and a large half-inch 16 megapixel sensor, Fujifilm is obviously aiming for the high-end compact camera market. Although the the learning curve for this camera is a bit steep, the image quality is among the best in the compact zoom class.

Lately there has been a trend for cameras that appear retro; looking to be analog, while offering compelling performance under the hood. Fujifilm has responded to this market need by introducing more expensive models such as the X100, XPro-1, X-E1, and the cheaper XF1. For the enthusiast that wants to not only take fantastic pictures, but look fantastic while doing so, these cameras are perfect.

The Fujifilm XP series is a great place to look if you're in the market for a waterproof camera that won't break your budget. For a high-end waterproof camera that also boasts wireless, the XP170 is available. You can also find a great deal on the cheaper model, the XP50, as well. With a 5x optical zoom and waterproofing to 16 feet, this camera will go just about anywhere you do. Image quality isn't as good as more expensive offerings from other manufacturers, but it gets the job done.
