Won't power up (Ray Luna — 07/05/2008)

This camera almost served its purpose. I bought the camera for my son who is in college. It was always losing power and we tried rechargeable battery packs, AA rechargeable batteries. I have more money spent on batteries than what this camera is woth. I just came back from Radioshack so I can give it one more try and it still didn't power up. The camera has not gotten wet nor has it been dropped. I've bought Kodak cameras all my life because my first camera as a child was an instamatic.

Who Could Ask for More for under $200? (John — 12/07/2007)

I love this camera. It is my first experience with digital photos. After just a short while owning it I sold my Canon Rebel EOS cause it just wouldn't or couldn't match the ease of digital photography. I'm sorry to hear the sad news from a few others about battery life but, mine has been great. I purchased 2 extra sets of batteries but, never have I had a need for them. I've taken a 100 photos before without recharging. Of course I'm using Kodak's recharge batteries. I'm now ready for an upgrade and am looking very close at Kodak's Z812IS. One last thing. The Easy Share docking system couldn't be easier. This is one area Kodak has matched their competion. In my opinion no one can match their cameras dollar for dollar. Oh, and if you don't believe me just read what the professionals say about this camera as well as other Kodaks.

Dead camera (Chere F — 04/03/2007)

Can't operate it even with brand new batteries. It will open the lens ONE time and then - poof! Nothing.

Glad to see I'm not alone on the battery drain problem (Cindy Clayton — 12/23/2006)

I thought it was just me but now I see that others are having the battery drain issue. I'm going to try and clean the contacts. I loved the camera but not any more. Mine was also well taken care of.

Kodak Easyshare 6330 (Hal Hadaller — 12/11/2006)

Eats batteries worse as it gets older. I have a higher end Kodak Digital and it has been great. My wife took it and gave me the battery eater as she can never depend on it to take a picture, even with spare recharged batteries. Looking for a new camera now.

Have had remarkable results (Jon E. Ehrsam — 11/27/2006)

This camera has done everything I've wanted it to do and more. The pictures stack up favorably against much more expensive cameras.

Easyshare CX6330 (Colleen Kaiser — 11/15/2006)

I agree with everyone who's had problems with this camera. I also take care of my belongings and also don't take many pictures. It will not recharge even with new rechargeables and this camera got very little use. This happened after 1-1/2 years of mostly sitting on the port. No more Kodaks for me - give me a foreign product.

New Batteries draining after 5 pictures now! (Paula Cutcomb — 11/03/2006)

I'm actually glad I found this website — to confirm that I shouldn't try to get this damn thing fixed. Loved it for 2 years. Then for no reason, my rechargeables started dying waaaaaaaaaaay too quickly; bought new rechargeables, but same thing, so it's the camera! Sure was happy for a little while!

Died on me (Darrell Isenberg — 10/09/2006)

I had the camara almost 3 years but only used it mostly the last few months. Was doing fine then suddenly, it froze up when I sat it down and it wouldn't turn on and the zoom lens wouldn't close. Tried two sets of new batteries but no-dice. Dont want another one.

Mine also died an early death! (Jeanne — 09/22/2006)

Mine died this weekend...like it had no battery contact, despite new batteries.I hardly even used this camera and took very good care of it! I called Kodak, and was told it must be a problem on the camera's hard drive, and they proceeded to tell me I could trade it in for a refurbished model-ALL of which would cost more then a NEW camera...don't forget the $15 P&H! They also said I could get mine fixed for $75...plus tax, plus $15 P&H! Now WHY would I want mine fixed or have a refurbished camera if I could buy a NEW one for that price or lower!? I so wish I hadn't invested in a printer dock and paper/ink package! Like I read a bunch of times, it took lousy indoor or night shots, despite having the nighttime feature!

Good for two years (Kelly Simmons — 09/20/2006)

I owned this camera for about two years. I liked it at first for being my first digital camera. The picture quality was very good for only 3.1mp. I even bought this camera for my mom for Christmas. Both cameras DIED after a year. This is ridiculous after only owning this expensive camera for only a short time. I would not recommend this product to anyone!!

Excellent camera! (Jason F. — 09/07/2006)

I'm shocked at the other reviews for this camera! Perhaps I was lucky, but I've had this camera for over two and a half years now and I've never had a problem. Works great, and takes really nice pictures. Never had a problem with battery life. (We use rechargables.) Super easy to use!

Keep in mind I'm no pro. I'm just an "average joe" who takes family pics and such.

I've taken about 2500 photos with it since I bought it. Prints come out clear and color is good. Taken quite a few short movie clips too (1-2 minutes each).

Movie quality is just "ok". Nothing to get excited about, but then this isn't a camcorder. The sound quality is fine but you can hear a light continual "thud, thud, thud" sound when you play it back. I think it's the motor running. For home movies, it's just fine. Anything else, the sound may not be suitable.

Unfortunately my wife dropped the camera on the floor and broke the battery door. It'll hold with tape, but it's annoying to keep taking off when we change the batteries. Kodak can't/won't repair it, but we had extended warranty so now they're giving us a new Kodak C533. Hope it's at least as good!

Camera unjustly says battery is low (red flashing led) at power up (Piet — 08/28/2006)

Camera takes good pictures but since the start it complaints about 'low batt'.
I.e. at power up or taking a picture the red led flashes and the camera turns off.

Re-inserting the same batteries helps sometimes, but since the cover is not very robust, don't do that too often!

I notices that the rejected batteries still work fine in my electrical shaver. (I.e. it run at the same pace as with fully loaded batteries.)

My experience is that cleaning the contacts of the battery cover and inside the camera helps much better, at least for a longer while.
(on holiday I used a small dot of tooth paste on a cotton swab since tooth paste contains a polisher)

With just 2.4 Volts and high current consumption a bad contact can cause a relative high voltage drop. Apparently the power detection circuit is very picky about any voltage drops due to bad contacts. I hoped a firmware upgrade would help, but also CX6330 version 106 gave no improvement..

My best advice: Use a Q-tip with some contact spray and clean all contacts, incl. those of the batteries themselves.

Should recall for power source deffect . Dead in 18 months (Steve Bohuczky — 08/28/2006)

Went dead in 18 months. Paid $220. I will never buy Kodak ever again because they have not recalled this piece of crap. Shame on Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY.

Cost too much to get repaired (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

My 'OK' button does not work so when the battery case door came open for a while, the date went away. Now every time I turn on the camera it wants to reset the date. Well I can't click 'OK' because that button does not work. So I have to wait about 4 minutes until the date scenario times out before I can take pictures. Too I can not delete any pics I have taken because the 'OK' button does not work. It should not cost $100 at the minimum for someone to repair such a problem.

Mine died, too... (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

My camera was working absolutely fine, with no problems until today. It just won't turn on! At first I thought my rechargeable batteries were dead, so I tried regular batteries...no use. I can't believe I paid all that money for this. Cheap product, a camera should last more than two years, especially for this price.

The Worst Camera I Owned (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

This camera was eats battery life, and it not good at taking pics indoors, however outdoors pics are very good, the camera now does not power up, I am forced now to buy something better and I can assure you it won't be a Kodak! They should have a recall of this product.

Good for first few months (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I recieved the CX 6330 for christmas in 2004 and it worked great the first 3 months or so. After that, the battery life shortened a whole lot and the battery latch on the camera broke and won't stay closed. I know about 5 people with this same camera and they have had the same problems. I would not reccomend buying this camera because of the poor quality and the life of the camera itself. No more Kodak's for me!

DON'T BUY KODAK! (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

Camera worked fine except for massive battery drain. After 18 months without a glitch, one day it just decided not to turn on again. I did a search to see if others have had the problem, and it led me to this page, and they have. For the person who said we should take better care of our cameras, I can assure you, this one was treated extremely well; I take very good care of things that cost hundreds of dollars, thank you very much. Yours just hasn't died on you yet. Kodak should be sued over such an obvious manufacturing problem that they haven't recalled.

til' death do us part... (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I bought this camera about 1.5 years ago, really enjoyed it. For a low priced camera did the job really well, was able to take almost 600 pictures with it. Just the other I went to take some photos of my son, to my surprise I had a flashing red light when I tried to turn it on. I made some calls and did some reading.. for no apprent reason I need to buy a new camera... won't be a kodak.

Nice camera that died early in life, but apparently, so have many others (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

Just like many of the other reviews, I enjoyed this camera very much since December 2003, Sometime in February of 2006, two years and almost two months later, I turned on the camera to notice it did not turn on. When you pay $300.00 for a camera, you expect quality, but obviously Kodak does not stand for that anymore. I took it to a local camera shop and they sent it to Kodak and told me it would cost $160 to fix. Instead, I went to walmart and bought a Vivitar for $148.00. It has all of the features of the Kodak CX6330 but does not seem to have the best flash exposure, a little too much flash, the CX6330 turned the flash off when taking close up shots whenever I would go to sell items on E-bay. At least if the Vivatar goes to crap, at lease I did not pay as much.

Kodak used to be good. (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I had this lemon for 13 months when the thing just stopped working;no power. We should all be able to take them to court over this some kind of way. It is a shame how Kodak has gone down hill.I will never buy their junk. Good luck to you my family. Our bad camera has made kin of us all.

Took nice pics, but quit working after 18 months (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

spent over $ 200.00 on this camera, took nice pics with no problems for about 9 months, then started draining batteries. took about 400 pics before it totally quit working, lens will not come out, green light blanks, can hear motor clicking but won't start up and nothing on view screen. camera has been babied and not abused.Spoke with Kodak and for another $ 115.00 I could send it to them to fix.with a 30 day guarantee, what a joke . They also said that they do not know of any problems with this model as of 3-2006 , but it was discountinued over 2yrs ago.would not reccomend any kodak products.....

Good Camera (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I have had this camera for almost 2 years. It is my first camera. It takes great pictures, the staff at the photo store always comment on how great my photos look when I get them printed out.
It is super easy to use, and you can plug it into any computer without needing specific software. I am pretty avid, I take it everywhere and have taken thousands of photos. I have used the same pair of rechargable batteries since I got it, and they are still going strong.
It does have limited indoor capabilities, I find the flash isn't very strong if you're a distance away. It is also not very good for taking indoor action shots, though I hear that is a problem on most cameras except for high-end or SLRs.

It has had some minor issues with the shutter getting jammed open, or the zoom getting stuck. Nothing overly-annoying or a reason to return it.
Over-all I am very pleased with this camera. It has made me discover that I have an aspirtation for photography and I am just shopping around for an upgrade camera.

Died (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

Was OK for about one year. I only took bout 100 pictures during that time. Now it takes one picture and than locks up or turns off. I'm disappointed in Kodak. They want $150 to fix a cameral that is worth maybe 50 bucks.

Horrible for indoors or low light - good for outdoors (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

This camera is perfect for those nice bright outdoor shots. However, bring this thing inside, where you need to rely on the flash, and it fails miserably if you are more than 5 feet from the subject. Just a horrible, horrible flash/exposure combo.

horrible battery life as well.

Wonderful until it stops working (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I got it used from eBay, but with a 1 year warranty from that point. It worked very well, took great pictures, and the movie quality is exceptional.

However, the shutter button eventually seemed to wear out and it was always half-depressed, making it difficult to take pictures since you're supposed to press half-way to focus, and then the rest of the way to take the picture. Later it started having battery trouble, where it wouldn't turn on 4 or 5 times in a row, but then it would turn on and be fine. Lately, the autofocus seems to be broken, focused in very close and it won't change at all.

It lasted me over a year, the price was good, and the pictures were great, but if I can't get this resolved I'll be getting another camera soon.

Mixed Emotions (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

The camera is very easy to use and takes good pictures. However, after 15 months of using the camera every week, it stopped working. I tried changing the rechargeable batteries. Nothing worked. I took it to a local camera shop and they will not touch it. I need to send it back to Kodak. I'm disappointed because I loved the camera and it's functions. I just wish it would of lasted longer.

until it broke... (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

Just like others on this post, I had this camera for just over a year and it froze up. Seems that Kodak has made a product that is designed to last just longer than its warranty. Stay away from this and other Kodak cameras!

fantastic first phone (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

Its disappointing to read reviews from people who have had bad experiences with this camera! I am lucky enough to have never have had a problem with the kodak cx6330. It is good for basic photography and videos, good printing quality for standard 6x4 prints and so easy to use. Perhaps others need to take care of their cameras!

Breakable! (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I have had this camera since April of 2004. After about 7 months I dropped it and a piece of the battery door came off. My fault, but I dropped it on a fairly soft surface, so I was somewhat disappointed. I called Kodak to get it replaced, they do not replace pieces if it was dropped so I decided to go on ebay and buy the battery door and get that piece replaced myself. The battery door with s&h cost me $12 dollars as opposed to sending it to Kodak for $20 to ship and then if they found out it was broken then it would have cost ME to ship it back to me plus cost of fixing it! :( So ebay helped a lot. After I replaced the door about 8 months, the flash broke. Dont know how. I replaced the batteries, still no flash, dont know how to fix that one! :( All in all a nice camera for easy pictures, but be VERY gentle with the camera!!! It's very user friendly and takes good quality of pictures but the camera casing isnt all that good, I am on my 2nd Kodak ... bought the 2nd at a pawn shop for $70.00 and it seems to be okay! :)

No more Kodak (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

After about a year, the camera started killing every battery used in it. Must be a short draining the power. I can take 2 pics and then the batteries go dead. Kodak doesn't care. Don't buy a Kodak.

Stopped working (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

We had two of these as yearbook cameras for our school. One stopped working within a month or two— took more than a minute to set up between photos (regardless of batteries), blurry pics. We sent it in and it was fine for a while. Then, the other one went wonky— EVERYTHING is blurry, and as a 15 year vet of yearbook photography I highly doubt its me. A lot of money spent, with very poor reliability. :(

very easy to use, if it works... (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I enjoyed my 6330 very much as an easy to use point and shoot, easy to transfer photos taken camera until it broke 5 weeks out of warranty! Absolutely exasperating! The lens protruded out as if frozen, with no power whatsoever to the camera. A trip to the selling retailer and a camera repair store provided no help. I spent more than an hour on the phone with a Kodak rep who answered from the Phillipines, eventually sending me to a 'manager' in Rochester, NY who wouldn't offer any help because it was more than a year since purchase! We are unable to tell if the docking station is also disabled, but have found others with exact problem via Ebay. A very expensive year of pictures for me....I was told at the camera repair store Kodak does not stand behind its cameras, and so they will not sell them. Apparently, all too true.

Good Pictures for Family (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I love this camera, it is easy to operate and gives enough features for any startup family photographer. I use this along with rechargable batteries which allow me to use the screen to set up my shots all the time. Very good and reliable camera!!

Makes clear night pictures when I can't even see. (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

It's an awesome camera. It is good for taking pictures without having to have them perfect, and without having them terrible. The video part may not have sound, but it's very nice. I think it is also very nice to share it with your friends.

Makes picture taking fun and creative (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I have had my camera for almost 4 days now. It is fun to make pictures in black and white and sepia. It has excellent sound quality in the movie mode feature. With a 512 meg card you can get over 30 minutes of sound and video. The video and sound are of better quality than other cameras I have seen. The video moves along very nicely. The door though is flimsy, but all it take is using it with care. I am just going to use a docking device to load the pictures. It was worth the money.

Piece of Junk (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

The camera worked fine and the pictures were beautiful.
Right after the warranty elapsed, the camera died out. It will not hold a charge and all the pictures are blurry.
I paid close to $300 with the battery dock. I am very disappointed.

Amazing Picture Quality (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

The picture quality of the camera is awesome, and et is very simple to use. Sure, because of that simplicity you don't get some of the shutter and flash control offered in other cameras, but since it does a great job automatically, you don't even need them.

  • 2.0 out of 5
Very disappointed (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I have sent this camera back to Kodak twice under warranty and the most recent problem is now the screen is essentially broken, half of it is blank, but it still takes pictures. It is easy to use but the batteries run out way too quickly and also it only holds 18 pictures which is terrible.
