Kodak EasyShare M863 Comments & Questions (write your own!)
HOW TO DOWNLOAD PICTURES TO PC?
HOW TO SPEND ALL THE PICTURES DELA CMAR PC? HE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE ANY WAY, COULD YOU HELP?
(translated with Google Translate)

Lastly, since it shut off, you may need to reset/reinitialize it.
kodak.com/global/en/service... camera should be turned off when charging. When charging the camera, the battery charging light will come on and remain on until the battery is fully charged at which point the battery charging light will turn off automatically. Charging will take about 3 hours.
It has very low capacity, good for a small number of pictures and should be reserved for emergency use when the SD card is full during an outing.
SD cards has become so cheap nowadays, one should think more in terms of getting a 2 gig card for everyday use and leave the internal memory alone for the rare occasion when extra storage space for another few pictures is needed.
Most cameras will use the SD card if one is inserted. In that sense there is actually no choice for the User.
I wouldn't even try to use the internal memory except for a complete emergency with no memory card options available.
By leaving this post open for a while, maybe one of the others on this forum will reveal the purpose of it!?!? :)

I like this camera - small, cheap ($100) and simple. Indoor flash is one of the most natural flash modes I've ever used on a point and shoot. Video is very good too but it's not 30fps as indicated by specifications on this site. 15fps is what my computer reveals.
My main question is about the file size - what gives? I'm no photo expert...
thanks
Just weird to me cause my Casio 6MP camera file size is usually around 3MB. Thanks for the answer, I'll give you the points as answered if there's some way I can do that after this reply?
best

camerarepair.blogspot.com/2... those don't work, I'd take it in to a camera repair shop. Also the solutions above are taken at your own risk, if you don't want to risk it, just take it to a camera repair shop in the first place. Also possible its a CCD error, this camera has also had a lot of those in the past.

The Kodak M863 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ) comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the KLIC-7001, and a in-camera AC charging cable (works with standard US wall plugs). Standard AA or AAA batteries do not work with this camera.

I'm glad we could be of assistance. Please come back to DCHQ ( digitalcamer-hq.com ) with any other questions or issues.

When docked in your camera cradle, or if just connected via USB, open up the "My Documents" folder on your desktop. Click the "Show Folders" option to display the folders available. Next, click the "My Computer" icon to see the drives associated with your computer. There should be one for your camera; select that. From there, your camera's memory will act as an additional drive connected to your computer, and you can drag and drop the files from your camera to your computer. Good luck.

Another option may be just to use the rear USB hubs and not the front ones, which may draw less power.
As for the electrical outlet, I'd check to make sure connections are properly seated or talk to Kodak support about it. This is a common issue and points to a potentially serious design flaw in their USB charging design.
Kodak cameras have a low battery icon on bottom right of screen, for when the power gets below 25% capacity
This comes on automatically.
There is no way to permanently show the current battery level onscreen.

I really want to return my $50 wall-charger to Worst Buy and I would much rather use this cable if possible.
Any help to shed light on this possibility would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Merci boucoup !

it has 16MB of internal memory of which you can use 10MB for picture-taking, or it takes an optional (sold separately) SD or SDHC card.

My daughter and I each bought this camera on the same day. In less than 3 months from purchase, both cameras had the same problem; the lens would not close. We contacted Kodak and got no help. We returned the cameras and could only get replacements. The replacements have a similar problem. Occasionally the camera "freezes" and you can't take another picture or turn it off. The camera has to be plugged in and allowed to shut off automatically before additional pictures can be taken. Batteries don't hold a charge. Would never buy this camera again.

Owned this camera for 9 months and immediately recognized poor image quality. However the camera was well suited for travel and the pocket size made it functional for me. At 9 months, the camera failed to turn on. Returned it to US Camera and Binocular Repair (Kodak's repair facility) and corrosion was found on one of the cameras inner terminals. WARRANTY VOID! Kodak explained to me that the camera cannot be used in the cold otherwise condensate will form inside of the housing they also pointed out the small print that states the camera should not be used in cold conditions. My advice DO NOT PURCHASE THIS OR ANY OTHER KODAK PRODUCTS.

Got this camera for my birthday before vacation and on vacation it just would not turn on after three pictures. What a waste for my vacation. Took it back. Got another, worked good for about a year, now will not zoom all the way, just turns off. Does take excellent pictures but never in sunlight, can't see the screen, you just guess. Find something better!

I loved this camera when I got it, just after christmas last year. I was replacing my old battery operated kodak camera that was atcing up (had it for years before it stopped working and that was cause the battery pack got cracked!). Anyways it takes horrible pictures. If the lighting isn't perfect it takes horrible pictures. It takes a few good ones then the next its terrible. I need a good camera for my classes and this one is not one of them! I need something I can relay on to take good pictures almost everytime!

I am not sure why this camera has such a bad reputation. It is the best digital camera I have owned to date. Great battery life (versus others I have owned). Portable - you can put it in your pocket - takes decent videos both long and short. Have had several comments about how great my pics are from this camera. If you can get a good deal on this model. BUY IT!

Its good, its lasted a little over a year, but its gotten pretty scratched up, and now the sound doesnt want to play. some of the pictures are grainy, unless i put it on a certain setting. the video is really fuzzy, and doesnt look good on YouTube and sites like that. Sometimes the sound and video don't really match up. I'd advise you go look for another camera before this one.

I loved this camera for its ease of use, but I agree with some of the other reviewers about its lighting issues. Many of my pics didn't turn out due to its hypersensitive light sensor. It seems it would always pick out any back lighting in your picture and focus on it, making your subject super dark. It also was the worst zoom camera I have ever owned, due to the blurriness of all my close ups. I would pass if I had to get this camera again, except it makes a great first camera for beginners and also for kids, since the videos it takes are good and fun for you-tubers.

Waste of time taking this camera on holiday,i could only take pictures at night. Also never sure how much battery i have left,as there is no indicator.

I use to love my camera until I found out that you cant take pictures in dark settings. Meaning if its not enough lighting, you cant see the person or object your trying to take a picture of. You just aim and hope you take the picture right. Besides that its a pretty good camera. I like to go out and I also like to have memories but if its dark out dont count on it.

The M863 has good features and good pictures but impossible to use in bright sunshine because the screen display cannot be seen.

I bought this camera because I LOVED my previous Kodak camera. It takes horrible pictures.
