Or, do what I do. Get a USB card reader. Then drivers don't matter.
I don't know how to format the memory card or do anything anymore?
can any one give me specific steps so that I can do it with the broken LCd
or if you have any fotos for the menu and its options?
I appreciat any help
I read your comments above about the CCD. Does this sound like a CCD problem?
Thanks!

If the problem persists, I think your next move it to talk to Kodak about a repair. If it's not under warranty, the average cost of a camera repair is around $180. As such, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.
Next, I would check your batteries to verify that the issue isn't there. If you have another battery or an AC adapter, try powering it on and see if you can eliminate your main battery as the culprit. If it is, I suspect you got a defective one on your hands. If not, you would be wise to return it and get a better camera.
Your only other option is to have it serviced.
Screen cracked.
Where can I get a new lcd screen? I prefer to replace it myself, I just need to get one!
Thanks
I can't find a place to purchase just the LCD screen. You may be able to get an LCD screen shipped to you from Kodak. However, you can get it repaired if under warranty and you b!tch enough that the cracked screen was not out of abuse (unless it was an accident or abuse, at which point I don't encourage lying :)).
I've seen other manufacturers with actual parts lists that you can purchase. And without even seeing a replacement LCD on eBay, Kodak may be your best bet.

Told the person there (Julie, very nice!) that tech support pointed me to them to order an lcd display for the v1003. Julie said no problem and I now have one being sent to me for $32.73 plus $15 shipping. Will be here in 4 days.
If your in the UK they want £90 ($180) to fit a new LCD obviously scrapping the camera.
I'm double screwed as I got a V1003 and V610 LCD bust in the same crushed bag.
Maybe think twice about buying Kodak outside the US with service charges like that I know I will....
Did you order from them ?
Thanks
Luke
I wasn't go to pay Kodak any more money after such bad service (they quoted £89 for the repair) so ordered one from ebay - the LCD screen is the same as fitted to the V803 byt the way so search for that model too when looking for one one ebay. Mine came from HK and cost £30 delivered so was happy with the price although I am sure the LCD will have been built to a lower spec than the original.
This is what I did to replace the LCD - you undertake the repairs at your own risk and you accept that I am not responsible for any damage caused by your attempt to repair. Remove the battery from the camera before you start the repair.
To take the back of the camera carefully remove the small screws that are located around the sides of the camera - note which screw came from which hole as they differ in length. Some may not pop out when unscrewed so you have to carefully jiggle them out.
The back of the camera is a little tight to remove - I used a small flat blade to run slowly around the edge to carefully prise it open. Be careful you don't lose any of the rubber button/toggle switch interfaces which are set into the back of the case cover. The LCD rests on a rubber seal set inside the rear case. It is supposed to be a little tacky to hold the LCD but mine lost this tackiness when the old screen was gently pushed out.
The LCD screen is attached to the camera circuit board by way of a plastic film circuit strip. If you look carefully at the point it connects to the main camera board you can see a tiny hinged tab which acts as a clamp to hold the connector strip to the main board. Gently flick this up (from left to right looking down at the camera main board from the rear) and the strip just pulls free. You can now take the rear case from the camera body to replace the screen in comfort.
I took the four rubber tabs off the old LCD and superglued them to the new bare LCD in the same positions as the old one. I also put four small dabs of superglue in the corners of rubber seal where the LCD sits to hold it in place - don't overdo the application of glue.
It sets in seconds and when you are happy it won't pop out turn it over so that you can attempt to slip the connector strip end into the connector socket on the main camera board. When you are sure that it is sitting properly in the socket you can use a small flat blade screwdriver to flip the tiny hinged clamp over the strip end to lock it into place. At this point I reinserted the battery to test the screen and it worked HURRAY!. If it doesn't light up properly then the strip may not be in the socket properly or the new screen may be damaged. Try and re-set the connector strip before deciding the new screen is defective.
If everything is ok then carefully place the rear case cover into place on the camera body but note that you will have to carefully fold the film connector strip (fold it loosely or you will break the circuit in the strip) so that it sits under the LCD and doesn't interfere with the joystick/toggle switch to the right of the screen.
Replace the screws in the right order and test the camera again.
Hopefully that will have taken care of the broken screen.
Again carry out the repair at your own risk or have someone knowledgeable and confident to carry out the repair. Changing the screen yourself will undoubtedly invalidate the warranty - which stinks bearing in mind the poor Kodak service and the cost of a new LCD. I don't see how Kodak can charge £90 for the repair bearing in mind how much they must purchase the LCD screen for and the amount of time it takes to replace.
Good luck.
Anyway, Kodak shipped my screen within days and all is well. That again for this info, group.

From the computer, depends on what kind of protocol use your camera. If it is recognized as a external hard drive, you just need to access the camera drive letter and delete the files selecting them and hitting delete button. If it use picture transfer protocol (PTP) usually the program you use will ask you if you want to delete pictures from the camera after copying them. Cameras with PTP will appear on the My PC folder with a camera device icon.
Google for F-Recovery picture recovery software. It should be able to restore your pictures and salvage the card.
Lastly, check with Kodak for a firmware update or service advisory, just in case.
From what I know of the Kodak software that comes with the camera, it's pretty basic stuff- <a href="kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier... a link that gives you a general idea of what they give you. But to be honest, I have never once installed the editing software that comes with my cameras, as I usually find it pretty useless. I'd suggest downloading or purchasing editing software elsewhere- you can use something high-end (and pricey) like Photoshop, or you can get something free like <a href="picasa.google.com/">... (which has an amazing red-eye removal tool, by the way). Once you download your photos, just open them up in whatever editing software you choose, no need to use what comes with the camera. Hope that helps.

Replaced LCD screen twice. Screen froze twice and the buttons wouldn't work, lense stuck in the out position, I tried pulling battery - it was stuck, I had to take the camera apart to remove the stuck battery in order to RESET the camera. V1003 Perhaps a good buy if you can buy the camera on closeout brand new for $5.00 (yes, only worth five lousy dollars) Made in China and the rest of the .30 per hour world.

I don't know why this camera has such a bad review! It was my first digital camera and I puchased in October of '07. I took many wonderful pictures with this camera and had no problems until the screen malfunctioned. Yes, I acknowledge that the LCD screen issue is no small problem, but for the year and a half before my screen blanked I could not have been happier for the price, which was about $160 at Office Depot when I purchased it on sale. I understand how frustrating the screen problem is because I was in Europe with a week to go and no spare camera. However, I was so well acquainted with this camera that most of the pictures I took after the screen went black turned out well. We got a full refund because of the warranty and now I have a canon powershot A100 IS, and wish I could find another V1003.

It just stopped working, would not hold charge, bought a new battery still would not work. Left it alone for a few days, then worked to take only one photo. Don't buy a kodak, worst thing I ever bought!

I have never had AT ALL a problem with this camera. it takes wonderful pictures and it's easy and compact. It's a simple point and shoot. But If you want good results you might actually have to do something and play with the settings.

I have owned two Kodak V1003 cameras, on both of the cameras the liquid crystal displays broke. The camera takes o.k. pictures in normal daylight, but the quality of the flash pictures and low light pictures is really bad.

I DROPPED MY FANTASTIC PANASONIC LUMIX CAMERA ON DAY ONE IN IRELAND SO I BOUGHT A CHEAP REPLACEMENT. THIS CAMERA WAS 150 EUROS, EXACTLY TWICE WHAT IT COSTS IN BRISBANE. IT HAS CONSISTENTLY JAMMED UP SINCE DAY ONE, IS SLOW TO FOCUS, THE LIGHT METER IS FAULTY, THE MOVIES MAKING A CLICKING SOUND AND DONT PLAY PROPERLY AND NOW THE SCREEN HAS STOPPED WORKING. IT HATES DAMP, COLD, HEAT...THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE JAMMING, WHEN YOU TURN IT ON THE LENSE COMES OUT BUT NOTHING WORKS. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TAKING THE BATTERY OUT AND WAITING AND MAYBE IT WILL WORK AGAIN. I DIDNT GET A WARRANTY IN DUBLIN AS I WASNT RETURNING BEFORE I LEFT IRELAND. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA. A COMPLETE DUD.

The screen has broken multiple times on this camera already from the smallest bumps or jolts. The first repair was free under warranty, but after that they wouldn't do it and it cost $80 per time it needed to be fixed. waste of money. great with 10 MP, but the camera itself is crap.

I've shot with Fuji Finepix S-series cameras as well as the Olympus Stylus 1030. The one I still use and have kept is my Kodak. This 'is' a great camera for 'everyday' use. I have produced postcard perfect shots and ofcourse if I miss the light or angle; some not so great photo's. I believe most of these reviews are from people who think the camera will just amazing shots for them. I would surely recommend this camera for the price! My favorite feature is the panoramic stitching. Very easy to use!

I was so excited to buy this Kodak EasyShare V1003 along with the printer. I went to Walt Disney World with my family, took tons of pictures, came home to print them out and WHAT A DISASTER! Customer Service did not care that the camera and printer were both terrible. I have not gotten a good shot with this camera yet. I am now going to buy the Canon. Good bye to Kodak!

I purchased this camera last March before going to Key West for a week. I previously owned a Kodak 3.1 MP camera which I loved! However, I was very disappointed in the V1003. It took decent pictures outdoors, but the indoor pictures were TERRIBLE. Even using the flash the pictures turned out dark & grainy. In the 11 months I have owned it, I missed out on a lot of great photo opportunities at a once in a lifetime concert & a couple of weddings for close friends. Very frustrating that my 3.1 MP camera had better quality pics. Also, the sound quality on this was even worse than the picture quality. So if you plan on using the video feature, don't count on anything you'd ever want to watch/listen to again.
The camera does have a few pros: easy to use, tons of photo settings (panoramic was really cool), small, light weight, & good battery life. But what is the point in having these features if it doesn't serve the main function of taking a good picture?
I just found out tonight that my dog got ahold of the camera & broke the LCD screen. I was upset at first, but now I'm kind of relieved that I can get a better camera & stop missing picture opportunities. I think I will invest in a different brand after some research. Which is sad b/c I've always been a loyal Kodak customer. I would not recommend this camera to anyone.

I bought this camera Dec. of last year to take some photos for a Christmas family get-together. The quality of the photos is outstanding! In fact, I keep the megapixels set to 3.1 and the pictures are still phenomenal. The menu's are extremely easy to navigate through. As far as the issue of cracked LCD screens: Just be extremely careful with your camera. Definitely invest in a case and handle with care, and chances are your camera will be fine. My only real complaint with this camera, like virutally all other digital cameras, is that it should come with more internal memory. But since memory cards aren't too expensive, I would definitely recommend getting one.

I bought this camera in Sept of 2007, left it in a carrying case until I bought a memory card. Took the camera out of the case inserted the memory card and started taking pictures, I was just snapping and I didn't pay attention to the screen until the game was over over, screen was cracked called the company they are not responsible for any damages.

Terrible camera! The first one purchased had a cracked LCD screen right out of the box. Walmart exchanged it for another.
The LCD screen on the second camera cracked after only two weeks! It has not been dropped and does not have a scratch on it - looks brand new otherwise.
The review button would sometimes stick. Others have mentioned this problem.
The fold out plug for the charger is an odd design. Trying to find an foreign country adapter plug works for this charger
is a challenge.
Pass on this camera. A waste of money!

This camera works very well for snapshots, and candids. I did however have some problems with the "review" button which will periodically stick. Battery life is very good, and camera is easy to use as this is the kodak mission. The V1003 is moderately delicate, so you should take good care in handling it.

I love this camera, the pictures are wonderful and its easy to use. I also love how quickly the battery charges and that it isn't double A batteries or anything like that. The only problem with it is the screen, I carried it in my purse and the screen got messed up. It still takes pictures, you can still upload them to the computer, you just can't see them on the camera. Its just all gray. I plan on finding a new screen and putting it on however they are hard to find. One person said you could call Kodak and get a new one shipped for $32 and some change and about $15 shipping and handling, I'm just not sure how easy it will be to put it in.

Hey guys-remeber this isn't a professional camera. But it's great for everyday use. 10MP is great, and the panoramic feature is fun. I have had no problems with it whatsoever except the software that it comes with is annoying. It's a lot easier to use a wizard/clicking and dragging. I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants a nice digital camera.

I bought the camera prior to going on my spring break trip and thought it was a great deal - was priced down at Target from $199 to $100, including all the accessories, the rechargeable battery, adapter, carrying case, mounting dock, CD...all I really had to buy extra was a memory card...however within 2 days I encountered problems, and I sent the below email to Kodak.
Hi, I recently bought a Kodak V1003 from Target and within a week I encountered several problems. The lens would not always return to fit back in the camera, and would make a popping sound, as though it was going to break off. Also the battery did not stay inside it's location and I would have to keep taking it out of the camera and then reinsert it back in the camera, to start charging. Due to these and other complications, I decided to return the camera to Target, in hopes of exchanging it with the same model and brand. I have been informed by Target that this V-Series Camera has been discontinued and they are no longer selling the product. Is this true? I have not been able to find any information on Kodak's website relating to what Target stated to me. I am aware that Kodak has a 1yr limited warranty on the product that I bought. I would like to have a working camera. Please verify if this particular camera has been discontinued. Thank you.

I got the camera o sale $99 $108 with tax. I thought it was a good buy I have skimmed over the instructions but I have not sat down and read them yet. I have someone checking out more reviews on the product, because I will return it. I have snapped a few shots and it takes great photos! I am happy thus far but I am un sure how long I will be happy.I have fuiji 4 meg. camera I need a upgrade I have a few events that I plan to attend so this camera better keep taking the photos that I saw today!

i got this camera for my 16th birthday and i would have to say overall i am pretty pleased. the shutter speed really isnt bad its under half a second... one thing i do not like though is how noisy and grainy some of the pictures can get without flash it works best in an outdoor enviorment. my camera stopped connecting through usb, but i am transferring pictures through my memory card.... overall its a great camera for begginers and takes pretty good shots

This camera's sound quality is worse than a webcam and the whole camera is aimed at chicks in High School by being available in candy colors. Despite decent resolution it's not very good and SEVERELY over priced.
- 3.0 out of 5
Got the camera 2/22/08 and played with it for a couple of minutes. It was at night in low light, and the pictures on the screen (when reviewed) did seem grainy. When I tested the image stabilization (by shaking the little bugger vigorously while snapping the picture) I was surprised at how great the pic looked. The camera seems a bit heavy, but I can live with that. I'll wait and see how everything holds up a week or two from now. It seems like most of the real problems take that long to manifest themselves.
- 5.0 out of 5
#1 yes it is a 10 megapix camera, however it has only a 3x zoom so if you zoom in digitally you can get very grainy pix.
the shutter will only lag if you don't press down all the way.
This is a great camera for portability. It takes outstanding pics. I think that most people that are having difficulty are really not following the directions.

I've had a Kodak camera in the past that I loved very much, I found the quality of the photo's to be execellent the camera's very easy to use. I have tried other brands since and have been very disapointed so we decided to go back to Kodak.
Since buying this V1003 we have not been able to get it to work! When you turn it on the lens will not open plus it prompts you to set the date and time. As this is done the camera shuts down! When you turn it on again it prompts you again to set the date and time.

I got this camera from my kids for Christmas and I was happy as a lark for the first two days. Then it happened all of the pictures we had taken disapeared. Gone forever what a diapointment I called the company and they said to read the directions that they were not responsible for losing the data and pictures its in the small print. My kids didnt have the money to buy the printer that I guess can go with it but I am out of luck. The only good thing is that is cheap and they didn't waste a whole lot of money on it. I think I will just go back to my canon camera with real film.

I bought this camera in September...& right before Christmas it completely locked up. I was lucky enough that store gave me a complete refund. Even before it quit on me I was not satified with it. It seemed slow.
- 1.0 out of 5
I bought this camera specifically for in-the-pocket, on-the-road use and for the fact that it claimed a 10.1 mega pixel. This camera took the worst ,blurriest, not worthy pictures I have ever taken. I have a little Kodak 3.0 mp camera had sharper images. The fact it does not have a view finder makes sunny days impossible. Run from this camera... Run I say...run....

I bought mine, had it 2 weeks and all the sudden the screen went completely blank. i lost all my pictures.

Ok, like i just bought my camera, and obviously there is something wrong with the lcd screen. I pull it out of the freakin box and like the screen is like freakin cracked. What's up with that. Dude, i discourage anyone reading this from buying that camera. I should have known something was up when the cashier said, whatever you do don't drop it.

i bought this because i was going to an out of town wedding and wanted to have a reliable camera to capture the memories. Should have taken a disposible camera. I was going to take it back, but misplaced the receipt, my $200 mistake!! The indoor pictures were horrible with the flash - very pixelly!!! Had to have a flash for indoor pictures. Also, gthe flash didn't carry very far. The out door pictures are fairly decent, some were actually good. Overall, the pictures are fuzzy and dark. Bad choice!!!
- 1.0 out of 5
Same problem as the v803. Did not drop the camera. Kept in its case. Woke yesterday to a black LCD. Kodak is making very cheap products and passing them off. I bought the extended warranty from HSN-but since I've had it less than a year, they said I have to call Kodak. Upgraded from a 5.1 MP Kodak. Pictures were alot better-video too... I told the serivce center that if I hear that it is my fault about this camera, I am reporting them to the better biz and to ABC news-they LOVE going after fraud issues...no joke!!
- 1.0 out of 5
A terrible camera - don't buy it! Put it this way.. you press the shot button, but by the time the camera takes the photo of the image you want, the kid or the family pet are half way down the road. Picture quality is rubbish, and you do not get straight-forward instructions on how to use this useless camera. I returned it after 4 days. I exchanged it for a trusty Olympus U760 - and I'm happy again! the Olympus is a great camera, pictures are great, it's light-weight, easy to use, and you get 43 minutes of cam-corder on it - amazing!

About three years ago I had an easyshare camera, which I loved so when the time came to purchase a new one, kodak was at the top of my list of prospective cameras. Unfortunately three weeks with this camera was more than long enough for me. It had some great features, but I could careless about them if the shot is missed. The shutter lag time was unbelievably long. After missing countless beautiful shots I was forced to return it.
