Konica Minolta DiMAGE F300

Editor's Review

The Minolta DiMAGE F300 offers 5-megapixel resolution in a rugged and streamlined aluminum body. Weighing only 7.8 ounces (including battery and memory), the camera is much lighter than its 5-megapixel competitors. Like its predecessor, the F100, this camera offers both automatic and manual controls, as well as a unique tracking autofocus that can lock the focus on a slowly-moving object.

Excellent Quality Camera (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I got the Minolta Dimage F300 two years ago and was very satisfied with it. It takes extremely good quality pictures, I have taken many amazing photos with it. Great with landscapes as well as people! The video feature with audio works pretty well. Another good thing is that it has a lot of different features, such as for action shots or close-ups. I like how you can imprint the date if you want. I love this camera and would recommend it to anybody. It won't disappoint you!

A few drawbacks: It's terrible at night / night lights blur. The shutter speed is slow. Uses a lot of energy - only lithium batteries will last long enough ($20 for 2 at Best Buy); the ordinary AA batteries will not do.

Great all around except the macro mode (close pictures) (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

This camera does everything I want with perfect quality pictures except take clear up close pictures. Other than that this camera rocks.

Answer to "Great camera if you can live with one flaw" (DCHQ) (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I used to share your feeling about shutter speed. However now that I turned off the tracking autofocus it's much much better!!!
So now it's just great...

Great camera if you can live with one flaw (anonymous — 07/18/2006)

I have been using this camera for six months - I love it. Many opinions about controls and button placement are just that, opinion. I have no complaints with the hardware from an ergonomic standpoint. The camera works well and the manual is well written. The lens is tack sharp and the auto focus works well. The movie mode has sound and is so-so.
The pictures I have taken with this camera are breath taking. My other cameras are a Nikon N-70 and Nikon N-55, I am as happy with the pictures F300 produces as the images my Nikon cameras produce. The ONLY complaint I have with this camera the shutter lag. It is S--L--O--W, forget shooting sports or active kids with this camera. If you can live with the shutter lag (I can) this is an awesome camera, if not, you may want to smash it with a hammer!
