Konica Minolta DiMAGE G400
Editor's Review
The Minolta DiMAGE G400 offers compact styling, 4-megapixel resolution, and the flexibility of dual memory card slots. Though almost identical to the 5-megapixel DiMAGE G500, the G400 offers faster startup time (0.7 seconds vs. 1.3 seconds, according to Minolta) and a slightly smaller body. Consistent complaints about its low-light performance may limit the G400's appeal, however.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE G400 Comments & Questions (write your own!)
Is there anything we can do? Is it even worth fixing???
Any suggestions on comparable cameras?
Is this a physical problem?
It certainly sounds like a physical problem with your G400 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ), but it could be at least one other thing.
Are you certain that the camera's battery is fully charged/not dead? A dead battery might produce similar symptoms. It might not be that the battery hasn't been charged, but rather that it's no longer capable of holding a charge--that it's worn out.
This might be difficult to test. Can you view pictures you've previously taken with the camera? If the camera will stay on long enough to let you review pictures present in the camera's memory, it's probably a lens problem and not a battery problem.
If you can determine that it's not a battery problem, you should contact Sony's support center here ( eservice.sony.com/webrma/we... ), as they've bought Minolta's camera business. Since your camera is doubtlessly out of warranty, though, the repair will probably cost quite a bit of money--might not be worth it when you can buy a newer, better camera.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
Hope this is helpful1
Many thanks.

The best compact camera for the low price.
I have used the G400 in outdoor environment for shooting the city and to make art.
Use it also indoor shooting closeup macro, and faces and models.
Used before a Nikon and Canons systemcams, but the G400 is fast as the they are with the super-continuous shutter settings.
Great shooting sportspics like basketball and icehockey.
G400 has lot of futures like the more expensive cameras also have.
Your able to create slideshow of your pictures in the viewing mode and also re-size them in the camera.
With the G400 "darkroom" sensor it takes great pictures in almost no light.
Your also able to change shutterspeed and ISO.
Tryed it last weekend in a localpub = Great pics!
HAVE FUN..!!

I purchased my camera from Dell Computers less about a year ago. Just got it back from Konica (repairing the camera) and now it's broken again. Since my warranty is now up it makes no sense to send the camera back. Repairs cost more than camera did. Just purchased a Kodak Digital Camera from Dell... hopefully this one will last longer than 1 year!

pretty good pictures, easy to use, movie pics not as sharp. only complaint is that the finish on the sliding lens cap is coming off!! I noticed this after only having the camera for 5 days!! Doesn't make for a nice looking camera.

One of the best cameras i have ever used, but i lost my recharger and since can't get a replacement from the local market or the dealers here in Nairobi, Kenya.

I purchased mine at BJs for $129. It takes great indoor and outdoor pics. It's very easy to use and to upload on computer.

I have done extensive testing of the G400, and compared with all the major sub-compact cameras- and have found that the Minolta G series are clearly the best value in this camera category- surpassing Sony, Canon and others at this price range and even considerably above.
I have produced a NON-COMMERICAL web page devoted to the details of this analysis at
http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/details.html
The Minolta G530 is essentially the same camera with an additional megapixel, and performance should be equal to the G400.

Yes it's fast, but ours has broken twice, and I'm now looking for a new camera. The Video feature is cool, but pictures are mediocre at best.
