Editor's Review
Nikon has announced a modest upgrade to their popular J1 in the J2. Specifications are almost entirely the same, still a 10.1 megapixel sensor, 1080/60p video, and 10fps burst with autofocus, but the screen resolution has jumped to 921,000 dots from 460,000 and the asking price is now $549. It also comes in orange now, if that's enough to excite you. More interesting is the release of a new 11-27.5mm f3.5-5.6 compact zoom for the 1 system, which offers a portable, zoom alternative to the 10mm f2.8. Its release is a bit of a head scratcher, though, because most bought the 10-30mm kit lens and don't need something completely redundant. We're still waiting for something compelling from the 1-Series lens lineup. Overall, a lukewarm addition that will do little to sway users of other mirrorless systems (or indeed the RX100).
