Research the Nikon Coolpix S700
Editors' Comments
Nikon brings out the big guns with their Coolpix S700 model. This attractive, metallic-body compact camera packs a big 12-megapixel sensor, allowing for larger and more detailed photographs than ever before. Now, keep in mind, 12 megapixels doesn't necessarily mean you get better photographs, just bigger ones, but if you like a lot of room to crop or want to make super large digital prints, the oversized CCD will come in handy. The S700 also features lens-shift image stabilization to counteract the hand-shakes that compact cameras are so succeptible to.

Nikon Coolpix S700 Comments & Questions (write your own!)
Of these two cameras, I would favor the Nikon S700 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ) for a few different reasons. First, it has a higher resolution, allowing you more freedom to crop and edit your pictures without endangering your ability to print high-quality prints. Second, it has optical image stabilization; this shifts the lenses instead of digitally adjusting settings, creating a higher quality image stabilization system. For less than $50 more, you get these features, and I think they are worth it. Good luck and happy shooting.
