Nikon Coolpix S800c
Nikon's answer to the deluge of camera phones eating into market share, the S800c is the first camera to run on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). While in a Wifi hotspot, users can check their email, browse the web, download apps from Google Play, or upload pictures they've just taken. The camera innards are basically the same as those found on the very good S6300, a 16 megapixel CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom, with the addition of a GPS. While we heartily recommend the S6300, the S800c's image quality won't compare to other models in the $350 price range. And although Android and a large 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen to play with are nice additions, Nikon really needed phone functionality here to make the S800c a viable alternative to a normal camera phone. Still, gadget lovers will probably appreciate the versatility Android offers.
