Not as bad as everyone says. (paul — 12/20/2010)
Honestly this is a decent camera for the money. It is decent for a point and shoot super zoom camera. The video is good too although the sound is not great I have never had any sync problems. I would get the firmware update. As for the batteries I use Energizer Ultimate Lithium and these last forever even when using the flash. The color is good except indoors low light seems to push the red hues on faces when using no flash. It depends on what settings you use to take the photos. I like to use the settings in ways they were not intended to get interesting shots. All in all i would say I do not regret buying this camera at all. I have plenty of photo experience too as I have been a shutterbug since the early 80s when my dad gave me his Nikon F with all the bells and whistles...love that camera too.

Tips of improving photo quality in low light - Ex - parties... (Rajarshi — 06/18/2010)
I just got my L100. The feel, look is great. New firmware ...i can use Rechargeable batteries...overall....at this price range I am more than satisfied with the features L 100 comes from and also you do some rearch before you buy..so no regrets really....But what I am looking for here is...some tips ...as in low light ( normal Neon inside room) the pictures in auto mode - protrait is too sharp and the color is so vibrant that it seems exaggerated...Body colors gets an extra tinge of red/pink...how do I get rid of the same as L100 do not have any manual controls...

sorry I bought it (Sue H — 01/13/2010)

I have to agree with the other disappointed owners. Fuzzy edges to everything, poor inside and only moderately better outside, mediocer focus. Only pluses - it takes real batteries, it will tell you if the lens cap is on, its "pretty". But it wont allow you to pick F stop or aps - perhaps this would clear things up. I'm looking for another camera.

Frustrating (dave everidge — 12/27/2009)

I have never owned a camera that I have had to fight with as much as this one. Regardless of what setting I choose, I can take 100 pictures and at least 50 of them will be out of focus. Inside pictures are bad. Outside are better. I think I will put this camera on EBAY and go buy something like a point and shoot. And it will not be another Nikon.

Best Camera & Best Value for Money (Maulik Darji — 10/30/2009)

I bought this from ebay india. Got a very great deal almost 35% discount. When i opened the Box i was amazed to see the camera. Looks similar to SLR, price much much less than SLR. Loved the "easy auto mode." 15X Zoom is superb. Picture taken in out door daylight are the best. Liked the panorama feature. 95% of the pictures had a very good result. I would recommend this for all people who don't want to spend much on SLR but want similar features.

My camera came with Updated Firmware (1.1). Right now I am running camera on Uniross Rechargeable Batteries.

I bought a coolpix with 3.1 pix years ago and paid over 200.00 now i got a 15 x zoom lens with huge screen for 229.00 great looking camera that takes as good of a picture as you can get in that price range.. if you want a camera like they take pictures with at NFL games , then spend the thousand dollars and stop saying this camera is no good..

Firmware Update (Dale Sakamoto — 09/07/2009)

After researching this and many digital cameras, I found that the Nikon L100 has a firmware update that will allow you to use NIMH rechargeable batteries. I confirmed this with Nikon tech support and the process of downloading is easy and painless.

Poor focusing (Clayton Agardy — 09/02/2009)

I've tried all the features and this camera is unable to achieve a sharp focus. When aiming at the subject to be photographed, you can watch the image drift right past focus. Then the brackets turn green, but the focus is not there. The Image Illuminator aims aims way off to the right and not toward the center of the focal field. When in Movie mode, once the shutter button is depressed, the focus is Locked. So if what you are filming is moving toward or away from you, it is out of focus. It may be a 10 megapixel camera but it has the focul resolution of maybe a one megapixel camera. Avoid it!

exellent Digital Camera (Sina — 04/29/2009)

L100 is the best digital camera without manual zoom in this range of price! the only problem in this camera is that you have to use AA size batterys.

Nikon L100 Review (Steve Roter — 04/18/2009)

I have a Nikon D80 as my main camera and I wanted a camera to bring to work to play with at lunch. The L100 optics are great, clear, sharp, and great contrast. The 15x zoom is superb, my last PAS only had 3x zoom. The various modes of shooting are pretty standard, I have yet to use all of them. I use the Macro mode alot and it amazes me with the detail and clarity it captures. The LCD can be viewed in direct sunlight, unlike my other PAS, which really bugged me. The only short coming on the camera I can find is it's limited Fstops. It goes to 5.6 only, but I haven't seen that as a problem yet, I still have the D80 if DOF is really required. Great Camera overall, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to start out.

ecological disaster (Michele A — 04/15/2009)

The L100 requires 4 non-rechargeable batteries. With my frequent use of the camera, I used up these batteries in only 2 days! Four new batteries ever couple of days? Nikon, what's up with that?

DOES WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES (Carter — 03/22/2009)

I have had a Nikon D 70 for a few years now but wanted something with a 10+ optical zoom and a good burst mode to take action photos of my dog catching his freesby and photos of other dogs as they negotiate obstacle courses. For these type of applications this is a great camera.
