Olympus FE-47
Editor's Review
The FE-47 is a cheap camera, that's for sure. We're not so sure how well it'll perform, if its predecessors are any indication. The FE-45 was the worst camera of 2009; the FE-46 was better, but not great. Hopefully the FE-47 is an improvement, but it's tough to ask for much from a $100 camera.

Is anyone else here having a great time with this camera? I have a feeling this camera is going to reward anyone that takes the time to learn what this little wonder can do! so far in 1 day Ive learned how nice this camera works in Macro and super macro mode! Nice Sharp pics!! Hers the deal with the batteries! DO NOT USE CHEAPIES!!! Get some decent NIMH rechargeables like Kodaks or Eneloops and for Gods sake switch the power options in the camera menu from alkalines to NIMH!!

Zwarte vlek op het Camarascherm van Olympus FE-47 (MD — 08/26/2011)

zwarte vlek/ enormous black spots on LCD screen (Martin — 12/05/2011)
Type UAHAO1589, model fe 47.
Since last summer a self developing spot of a 2 cents diameter appeared on the LCD screen on the left side and later on something similar starts at the right side. I bought this camera on a holiday (being an Olympus fan) about 800 km abroad. The local dealer would not accept the camera for servicing. Happy enough that there are no Olympus make cars with these kind of service levels! Type UAHAO1589, model fe 47.

Tried it, hated it (Jon D — 03/22/2011)
I had this camera for a week as an emergency backup after my Canon SD770 died. The camera was returned shortly after buying it. Images were poor quality, focus and lag time was unacceptable, and build quality was very cheap. I would recommend you buy something else.

Olympus FE-47 (J Robinson — 03/04/2011)
My olympus 47 has been great but the lens goes in and out even when I am trying to us it. Also when I turn the camera off it continues to go in and out for a few seconds. Any ideas how to fix

When you mean going in and out, how far to you mean? If you're talking about focusing, the FE-47 has a continuous focusing feature which, like a camcorder, Continuously adjusts the focus until you take the picture. It's great for action shots like of fast moving kids, etc. But you can change it to center point focus, which would focus when you press the shutter button. Look in your menu settings.

Unimpressed (Aniruddha — 02/21/2011)
This camera doesnt have ready to use buttons for selecting macro mode, scene modes, flash mode, etc. Looks cumbersome to use. Canon A495 looks better from that point of view.

Battery (Lorraine — 12/02/2010)
Bought this camera and am using rechargables..after a couple of pictures it tells me,,no battery?????..anyone had this problem??..I am usuing Duracel's

Look for batteries that have an "mAh" of at least 2500 to handle the camera's high energy needs. And always use the recommended battery types. regular AAs don't cut it anymore.

Quick in store review... (Chase — 10/13/2010)
I checked this out at radio shack, and it was easy to use, but the lcd display was terrible. One positive was the quickness of taking taking several pictures, there was virtually no delay between shots. Build quality is terrible, and it feels very unsubstantial. buttons were also already starting to wear out. I can't speak to picture quality...

looking for a valid review by someone woh has tried tihs camera (Sandra — 04/15/2010)
an "unbiased" negative review from someone who has never handled the camera doesnt mean much. Has anyone out there acutally tried tis camera?

nimh cells, as directed in manual.

very very terrible pictues even using all the different settings specially in night shoot
(ajay shah — 12/18/2010)
First of the digital cams i have ever seen, the pictue quality and the sharpness is so bad i feel ashame of my self having purchased this .
UHHH this is sheer wastage of my money, the rechageable batteris of 2700 maH does not shoot more than a few pictures.
My sincere request PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS CAMARA AT ALL EVEN IT CARRIES OLYMPUS NAME

many out of focus shots and battery issues
(Carl H — 12/04/2010)
I have a battery tester, I put what appears to be fully or nearly charged AA batteries in this camera and the get the "check battery" warning. It's very tempermental about minimum voltage. Somebody suggested mAH batteries, that may do the trick. I like to use the 12 delay timer mode but after every shot you have to use the menu to get back into that mode again becaues it defaults back to no delay mode, which is annoying. A good percentage of the shots are not sharp. I like the size and weight of the camera but I'm planning on returning it.

The Good One
(Saikat — 10/09/2010)
I bought this camera one month age.at first i found that the camera's performance is so poor.but after 2 weeks i found the total features of this camera which is so good.Basically the Macro mode or Super Macro mode is awesome. The picture quality and clarity is fantastic. To feel the performance of this camera you have to use the camera for a while and check out the menus .

Absolutely no problems here, works perfectly.
(Thomas Hennis — 07/01/2010)
Even though Olympus is typically known for being bad about being "user friendly" and having clunky hard-to-navigate menus, this is NOT the case with this camera. Much to my surprise, the menus are very easy to navigate and come with on-screen help/tip baloons that tell you exactly what the function does. A very welcome and needed addition.
As for EVERYTHING else, Wonderful. Optics outperform other cameras in this class and with an 8GB SDHC card, it has the ability to store approximately 1000 pictures with every option set to the highest resolution available.
As far as bang-for-the-buck, you would be hard pressed to find a camera that would beat this one!

always noised pictures
(tom — 05/29/2010)
just can't take a good picture with this camera. Tried many settings of ISOs, scene modes, resolution from 5 to 14Mpix - results are terrible, jpeg compression it to high colors are blurred, auto focus takes to several second to get sharp picture, however not sharp as I expected for such a idiot camera. maybe this model is just broken. I am going to contact with a vendor service.
