Battery stand by time for Olympus FE-240 (mpatra2002 — 05/03/2007)

What is the duration of the battery if I take pictures non-stop and after fully charging the battery in Olympus FE-240?

Also is there any way by which I would be able to know how much time is left before I need to re-charge again? (Apart from green/red battery indicator - that indicates almost nothing)

Hi Mahadeb,

Olympus claims a battery life of approximately 180 shots for the FE-240. There haven't been many user reviews of the camera yet, so it's hard to say whether it actually lives up to this standard or not.

As I haven't used the camera personally, I'm not sure about the low battery indicator.

I really like to take close up, detailed photos and I was just wondering if this camera had a macro setting.

If you check the specifications at <a href="dpreview.com/reviews/specs/... location</a>, you will find that the macro for this camera is as close as 10cm.

This is good enough for most purposes because you need to keep a distance from the object for light to shine on it.

Hi Amit,

Unless someone who already owns one comes by, an answer to your question is going to be hard to come by at the moment. None of the major review sites have a full review up yet (they usually do extensive testing in night time/low light shooting), and there aren't many user reviews around yet either. The ones that have been posted aren't really very useful in that regard.

Hopefully full reviews will start appearing soon and we'll have some evidence to work with.

I'm wondering what settings you're using, Rob? Is the camera on Manual or Auto, or one of the other modes? Also, are you using flash (I'm assuming not?) It depends on the camera, but some do just shoot very grainy in low light situations.

Not to mention if the shots are taken at a distance. Most point and shoot flashes are designed for portraits, rather than wide angle landscape or group shots. If you're taking shots outside of 6 feet or so, you may be running into trouble.

I've heard the stylus 740 and 750 are useless in the bright sun. How about this model?

That's a subjective question. All color (backlit) LCDs do not do well in the sun, although some might have brighter screens and hence do somewhat better.

The good news: I understand that there is LCD technology in the pipeline that actually works BETTER in the sun!

I know, I didn't answer your question. But you might as well ask ME how YOU like your car.
