zoom lens problems (C. Sherba — 11/05/2010)
I've had the Olympus 7010 camera for less than a year and it's been in the repair shop 3x because the zoom lens sticks and doesn't come out. Is anyone else having the same problem? Is my "repair shop" not fixing it properly?

I've found several discussions on FixYa.com about a sticking zoom. This leads me to believe it may be a design issue.

My Olympus Stylus-7010 just started beeping when I turn it on and off. I checked again and it is set to silent mode, but it continues to beep when I turn it on and off. Is this some kind of warning?

Try resetting your camera. Also, clean your battery contacts - a pencil eraser will do the trick.

Amazon is a good place to start. There's also a site called pricegrabber.com which can point you in the right direction. But avoid eBay. You'll end up with a counterfeit. And they overheat and damage your camera.

As James said, definitely be careful where you buy from. But this is a pretty basic battery and you might find it at local camera shops if you don't want to buy online. Otherwise it is indeed on Amazon: amazon.com/Olympus-LI-42B-L...

The reality is that the camera processes the image as color and strips it to save as black and white. You can do same thing with far better results in software like Adobe Photoshop Elements or Google's Picasa (which is free).

As James said, it does not make sense to shut in black and white in digital photography. All softwares have Black & White and Sepia.
You can use the contrast features and it is much easier than darkroom. I use Photoscope and like some of its features better than Picasa

They have a bulit-in function call the Magic Filter which adds in more fun to photography. It's a 4 different effects. And hence, you can save some time in photoshop-ping.

Sure, if you want an image that's been stripped by an arbitrary logarithm. I mean, if good enough is good enough, okay then. But if you want your images the best they can be, taking the time makes it worth it. Even if it's using programmed settings in a utility like Adobe Photoshop Elements or Picasa. But you use the settings in the camera, you get what you get and NOTHING else.
