Editor's Review

The FS5 is more than two years old, ancient by digital camera standards. Check out a newer model, like the popular FH20. Here's what we had to say about the FS5 when it was released in January 2008:

The Panasonic Lumix FS5 is a compact digital with a hefty 10.1-megapixel sensor paired to a 4x optical zoom 30mm wide-angle lens. The camera's real selling point, however, is its ease of use: set it on the iA (Intelligent Auotmatic) Mode and it will automatically make use of Optical Image Stabilization (Mega O.I.S.), Intelligent ISO, Face Detection, and Intelligent Scene Selector to produce balanced, well-exposed shots. Another handy feature is the "Intelligent" 2.5-inch LCD screen, which detects and adapts to changing environmental conditions to produce bright, easily visible images in all lighting situations.

Overated (D C — 03/09/2009)

I was expecting a fairly good ponit & shoot after reading some good reviews, no one said anything about the longer shots, most terrible out of focus pics I've ever seen. The lens or focusing system just cannot read it nor is the flash enough, i've seen Sony cameras capture more light. Wish I could return it! CAN'T RECOMMEND.

I like this camera (Cindy Thompson — 05/30/2008)

I haven't been able to figure out all of the tricks of this camera but I do know that it takes fantastic pictures. Better than any comparable camera I have owned. Including the Kodak easy share, nikon coolpix and a cannon I had 3 years ago.
This camera has a lot of bells and whistles and will take some time for me to get to know it. so far so good.
