Panasonic LUMIX GH4
Say hello to the Panasonic LUMIX GH4, the first compact camera system with 4K video.
By Hillary Grigonis, Last updated on: 6/19/2014

The Panasonic LUMIX GH4 is a mirrorless camera designed for professionals--particularly those who also dabble in videography too. The GH4 is the first compact camera system to offer 4K video, according to the manufacturer. The 4K video on the GH4 is shot at 24 fps, and when more speed is needed, 1080 HD video can be captured at up to 60 fps. But the GH4 isn't all about video, with a 49-point autofocus system and a 12 fps burst mode, the camera looks to have a lot to offer for still photographers too. Thankfully, Panasonic has thrown in a battery that's been rated at 500 still pictures, which is a step ahead of many mirrorless options. The design appears to be excellent as well, with an electronic viewfinder, tilting LCD and weather-sealed magnesium alloy body. At the $1,700 price point (body only), however, we'd like to see an APS-C size sensor, instead of the smaller Four Thirds.
