Ricoh GXR Mount A12
Editor's Review
The Mount A12 adds another sensor/lens combination to the modular GXR
system. Rather than switching the lens on a body with enclosed sensor, Ricoh has bundled the sensors in modular attachments; you just have to buy the GXR
back. While the benefit of such a system is that you can use
optimally-matched lenses and sensors, as well as consistently newer
technology, you also pay for a new sensor every time you purchase a new
lens. The Mount A12 includes a very good 12 megapixel sensor without an anti-aliasing filter, yielding more detailed images, as well as an M mount for mounting Leica and third-party lenses. An excellent rangefinder-style street camera, The GXR with this mount is able to use any of the thousands of manual focus M lenses. It's a niche product for sure, but the GXR Mount A12 is good at what it does.
