SL620 Spazzing out!! (Cassidy — 01/16/2011)
I can't seem to get my camera to do anything I want it to. I can't turn it off once turned on unless I remove the battery. I think this is just a problem with my camera. It hasn't had any exposure to water/moisture. I've had it since Feb. 2010 and I loved it until now. I let a friend borrow my charger and when I got it back, my camera spazzes out. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Well the charger could be fried. It could have done damage to your camera. Try resetting it to reload the firmware. Hopefully, that'll do it. But if not, you'll need to send it in to be safe.

I have a samsung sl620 and when i try to view the pictures i took, it keeps giving me a file error. how do i fix that or is it even fixable??????????

Well that could mean your card is beginning to fail, but since cameras make better imagers than file readers it doesn't necessarily mean that. Have you installed the card into a carder reader and tried to read them on your PC? If you can, then get them off and reformat the card.

Could a variety of issues. 1) you may have forgotten to finalize the DVD (I'm assuming you mean DVD, not CD as listed, some players don't play video CDs). You may have bought the wrong media (+ or -). You may have bought a brand that is incompatible with your DVD player.

I dont get it my "Samsung SL620" i treat like a baby, tonight i was snapping pic's then all of a sudden the screen looks really funky, i can't see any images in the screen except this redish curtain looking thing, its like the camera just frooze up, i tried snapping a couple of pic's and nothing..Now this camera never leaves the case except shooting, its never been near water or dirt on a table..Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like a failing CCD or LCD screen. Either way you're probably looking at a repair. Is it still under warranty? Hope so.

Your white balance could be out of wack. Try resetting you camera. You can also use any presets available depending on your conditions.

Had camera for less then a year was working good then all of it stopped. When you put power button on the screen comes on blury and out of fucus so you cannot take any pictures because all the pictures you take look like the screen.

Send it in while you still have the warranty in play. If expired, contact your credit card company (if you paid that way) you may have an extended warranty for a year as a perk for membership.

Hi Fred i have had my sl620 since xmas and tonight i was snapping pic's and all of a sudden it stopped and i had some funky orange redish fabric looking thing on my screen..I tried removing the batterie and mem card, and nothing..Im so mad rite now because i love the pic's it takes, I hope this is fixable but im not to excited about taking it back to Best Buy and hearing there B.S then calling Samsung and getting some India customer service..Im thinking calling it quites and buying another brand..Hell if it were to get fixed i would have to wait 4 month probebly.

I believe the SL620 relies on USB charging out of the box. Meaning you hook it up to your computer via USB and it recharges. Not my favorite way. By default, there is a power management feature in Windows which turns off USB ports to conserve energy. It's a dumb idea, frankly. But to access it you right click on my computer, select properties. then device manager. right click each USB hub and select power mangement. uncheck the box that says "allow windows to turn off usb hub to conserve power." Do this for every hub.
In addition, any front USB ports away from the main USB ports in the back do not carry enough electrical power to charge the Kodak camera. You must plug the USB into your rear ports.
The optional AC adapter is probably a better choice.

The sl620 comes with a wall converter...the usb cable is ran from the camera to the little converter box that came with the camera (about 2 ft. cord) and then it plugs into a regular 110 outlet from there. At least that's what mine came with right out of the box. No additional purchases needed.

Card is locked, but the card is not locked (FSmithIV — 09/24/2009)
My Samsung SL620 displays that my card is locked but the card is not in the locked position. Is there any setting that would do this on the camera. I can take the card out and take pictures. Also there is nothing wrong with the card, i have put the card in other players and cameras and it works, I also have put a brand new memory card in the camera and it still comes up with the same message.

Try reformatting the card and resetting your camera. Also, check if the camera has a firmware update. Download and install it. . But if it's been used for awhile, it may be failing and it's just better to toss it for a new one.

Or, the Olympus 1050SW, which also has the added advantage of being able to survive extreme temperatures and a drive of up to 5 feet. And it can go down to 33 ft under water without a camera housing.

Great little camera but the video sound mutes when you zoom

I have had this camera for a year and it has been really great. The only complaint is that when you are capturing video, and zoom in (or out) the sound mutes. So if you are capturing an event that requires sound, it stalls the experience when you replay. Thats the only bummer and I am now looking for another point and shot that does not do this. Anybody have any suggestions?

kodak is better, cheaper, easier to use. Main complaint is the video capability beautiful quality at 620 size but CANNOT upload image to net. Crappy, grainy quality when I reduce it to 320, but of course then it can be uploaded. Sucks.

It was the most optical zoom lens w/ double image feature.
Very pretty to look, easy to handle and easy to use it too. The picture quality is amazing! I love the the spinning function wheel and the display of the menu/function on the 3" large screen. The lens comes out smoothly and quickly w/o the noise.Superb! A+++
