Samsung hopes to make a splash in the already crowded digital camera market with the SL820, a 12-megapixel camera capable of shooting HD video in 720p. The Samsung SL820 is an excellent camera with a number of stunning features. A 5x wide-angle dual image stabilized zoom and high quality 12.2-megapixel resolution allows you to get up close to the action without sacrificing picture color or sharpness. Additionally, Face Detection, Smile and Blink Detection and a range of other camera modes ensure that you're pictures are never a second too late. You can also record 720p HD movies to capture those moments that won't fit into a single photo. The SL820 comes with 100 MB of built-in memory, or you can save to SD/SDHC/MMC cards for easy storage and sharing.

I found the answer. You can zoom while recording video on the Samsung SL820 but while you are zooming,
sound recording will be interrupted. Now that's the darndest thing!

My Samsung series 750 hd tv has a thumb drive port that supposedly one can plug a drive in, and play your movie files. I have a kodak camera now that saves video clips in .mov format - and tv doesnt recognize it. Will this new camera save the video clips in a format that the tv will play the video from a thumb drive? Per the tv manual, it supports the following video formats - avi,mp4,mpg,vro vob. Avi video decoder includes H.264MP and mp4 includes h.264MP and BP. Every time I contact Samsung with this question, reps give me a different answer - both yes and no.

Well, it's a fairly simple procedure to transcode the video from .MOV to MPEG or AVI. MPEG Streamclip is one I recommend, but you can also do it with Quicktime Pro. On your PC of course. Course, you could also burn it to DVD for the VOB files, move them onto your thumb drive and give that a go.

I think the camera also comes with some cables, usually either a composite, or if you're lucky a component that you can playback pictures/movies. So that could be an option. As for the thumb drive, the camera saves movie clips as MP4 (h.264) and Audio as Wav. So based on the TV specs, yes you will be able to plug it in and watch it.

Only those cables are so cheaply put together, you lose almost as much of the signal due to leakage than it displays on the TV. You're much better off tossing those freebie cables and investing in some better shielded ones. That doesn't mean being taken for a ride by overpriced cables like MONSTER. If you look in your yellow pages for video cables, you'll probably find the place where pros go and have them custom made for less.

I have Lumix camera and it saves all movie clips in MOV format. My TV is Samsung A656 and it does not support any movies from USB but only slide-show. I am looking for a way that I can store my clips on USB stick and play on the TV as the photos in a slide show. My latest idea is to connect to my TV (via HDMI cable) a Blue-Ray player that have USB port on the front panel. Samsung BP1580, BP1650, Philips Blue-Ray players and others have such USB and it is even told multimedia port (by Philips). Regredfully, the shop stuff is not enough educated to answer my simple question --> can I play MOV files through such USB port. First purchaising a player and then trying seems expensive otion. Who knows the answer?
