Sony Cybershot W35
Editor's Review
The Sony Cybershot W35 is similar in nearly every way to the W55, except for the slightly smaller LCD screen and lack of variety in color. This camera comes only in silver, but otherwise it's identical; good, user-friendly interface (with on-screen assistance), long-battery life, and an impressive 7 megapixel CCD.

Sony Cybershot W35 Comments & Questions (write your own!)
I want to ask is there any setting in sony W-35 for the date & time that it can be dispalyed as like other cameras have it @ the right corner below in photos. At computer while i can see the date & time but i want with each photo mentioned on it. & the result of my camera W-35 is getting bad. Before it was very good but now its not good as it was before. So is there any way to get good result from it...
What will be the cost in dollar of extra 2G memory for the W35 camera??
The Sony W55 ( digitalcamera-hq.com/digita... ) does use the same memory as this camera.
Andrew
First of all, megapixels don't matter when it comes to picture clarity. Use whatever you like.
Stay in auto mode or sports mode (if the W35 has one).
Unfortunately the W35 doesn't let you manually set the shutter speed, which would be most useful here. One thing you can do is select a higher ISO setting, which will allow the auto mode to choose a higher shutter speed. Re: zoom... I'd recommend staying zoomed out for the best response. The closer you zoom in the smaller the aperture is and the longer the shutter speed will be.
Hope this helps!
I am afraid you may not compare Nikon L12 with your Nikon L11.
12 has VR (Image Stabilsn) feature which 11 does not have. VR produces good sharp pictures and also reduces the blur shots.
Sony has no Image Stabilsn. feature in it.
Nikon always produces crisp images ahead of Sony.
the camera itself save the date & time of each photo, and when u make display, u can c it, but the question is how to make this appear on each photo, I cant believe that this feature is not available
And...by the way. just curious...why is it so important to have this on every photo?
if the camera is not providing this feature, I have to open editor to add the date myself
moreover, after a while, u will need to know what was the occasion when u took this photo, or what was the date :)
But the embedded file info, such as the camera brand, f-stop, shutter, AND date---I don't think those can be changed. So that data (I believe) would hence be immutable (and thus a good proof of the correct time).
And in your line of work, this can be invaluable in not only identifying what date it was taken, but pinpointing exactly what construction site it was taken at.
I just tried this, so I know this is correct: In both Photoshop AND MS Explorer,
both programs show when the photo was created---which cannot be changed. BOTH programs show creation date AND modified date.
U are correct that any mods will change the "modification" date---but no mods can change the "created" date.
So the software "angle" does indeed provide proof positive, although I agree that that method is not very convenient. Perhaps you could print out a page from MS Explorer as substantiation.
Best Regards
These two cameras are completely different, the Sony being ultra-compact and the Canon only being compact.
If you don't mind the larger size of the Canon model you chose, go with that one. It has the bigger lens, better flash pictures (takes awhile to charge between flashes because of only 2 batteries instead of 4 like other more-expensive, bulkier models), and nice movie mode.
If you opt for the Canon, make sure to get rechargeable batteries in the 2,500 power range.
Keep in mind the Sony camera uses the more expensive memory cards (4GB = $100 for Duo, vs. 4GB = $50 for SD). Adding this $50 on to the price of the Sony, and the fact the A550 is only $150 at amazon.com right now, makes the Canon model very attractive... if you don't mind the added bulk.
steves-digicams.com/2007_re... in mind the differences between these two cameras:
1.) DSC-W35 is ultracompact, the A550 is just a compact (ie, larger)
2.) DSC-W35 has 3x zoom, A550 has 4x zoom
3.) Battery life is longer on the A550, but takes AA batteries.
4.) Image quality is better on the A550, but, again, is larger.
If you insist on needing an ultra-compact, there's no other choice than to choose the DSC-W35 for your choice. If you don't care and that's why the A550 made it onto your list, then go with the A550. You can easily get one for <$200, and the "bang-for-the-buck" is very good.
I encourage you to read the review I posted the link to above.
Usually cameras can not focus if the light is too low. Set the ISO setting to automatic and then try in bright light. If this does not help then the camera may be defective.
Just to check it once you can put the camera in the auto mode( where it says aotomatic audjusments) and try shooting a normal image in a room. If still the image is not captured, then use your gaurantee card validity and give it for servicing without any more delay.
If you are able to capture any sort of image under certain circumstances, i would still advice you to report the problem at the servicing centre.
Now, if you bought an extended warranty thru Best Buy, THEN you probably have to take it back to the store. Then they will take it from there. If you did purchase the extended warranty, call the store and see exactly what you should do next.
