Hey! You should know that Sony has released a newer version of this product: the Sony Cyber-shot HX7V.
Sony Cybershot HX5V
Editor's Review
The Sony HX5V has a stacked spec sheet, at least by last year's standards. It packs a 10.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, which allows for 1080i video and above-average low-light image quality. Like most Sony cameras, it packs a bunch of head-turning extras, too: GPS geotagging capability, iSweep panorama mode, in-camera HDR photography, and 10fps burst shooting. It's been replaced by the HX7V; that camera has evolutionary, not revolutionary spec upgrades, and a higher price tag at the moment, so while the HX5V is still available at low prices, we'd recommend scooping it up.

Sony Cybershot HX5V Comments & Questions (write your own!)
this was not a feature on the cybershot h10
However, they're pretty close in photo quality. I give the edge to the HX5v though as at ISO1600, it has a slightly sharper image quality.
I have been looking at a few cameras but I cannot decide which is the best overall – I have narrowed my choice down to 2 cameras the Sony HX5 & the Panasonic ZS7.
I will list all that is important to me & then ask any of you who have some knowledge of these cameras & the features of cameras in general to give me any opinions you may have. I should mention I have a Canon SX1 IS but I am looking a smaller /lighter camera to carry around in my pocket or briefcase. If there is another small camera that you can recommend , please do.
The main features I am looking for are.
- Good image quality
- Good in low light
- The burst rate is a so/so of importance– (I am not as concerned as long as the other features are there)
- Good Zoom & wide angle (both cameras seem to have that.
- Macro focus (I have heard that the Panasonics is the better one).
- The movie function is of lesser importance to me , but it is always nice to have a reasonable one with good sound.
- The GPS is of even lesser importance to me (I would only use that when traveling which I only do once every 1-3 years).
- My hands are of medium to large in size (I mention this as holding cameras in the shop is NOT the same as actually using them day to day) as most of you know.
This is one of the review websites that I have looked at.

ANY IDEA AS TO WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED IN INDIA... EAGERLY WAITING!!!
Any idea as to When will it be released in india?? waiting eagerly ;-(
You may consider Panasonic ZS7, which is a great super-zoom camera too. Ignore cameras like FH20 if you are looking at the ones in this level.
1)Yellow color cast in indoor shots: This can be corrected by manual white balance though.
2)Poor audio recording in video.
3)Excessive barrel distortion at maximum wide angle while recording video.
4)Poor video recording performance under low light:. It looks too dark, fuzzy and auto-focus seems struggling in this condition.
It's a good camera other than those issues. But I don't think I can live with it. I would probably go with ZS7 or HZ35W.
Canon and Panasonic, otoh, are at the top of their game design wise and in that price point, there are some stellar options. The Powershot S90, the SX210, the Panasonic ZS7.
One option though is Amazon. They ship everywhere and the prices are competitive.
